Shoe models... (Read 658 times)

Does anyone else hate how they keep coming out with new models of shoes you once loved? I've been wearing the Kayano series for the last couple years now. And I've been through dozens of pairs and many different models.

My favorite model was the 13s, which I can't find anywhere. The 15s were working for me, and now all the local retailers are only carrying the 16s which totally have been screwing up my feet. What really pisses me off is they're suppose to be the same type of shoe- "stability." Also had similar issues with the 14s and 11s messing up my arches.

I loved my Kayano 13s and 14s. The 15s were awful. So I moved away from them. $140 is a lot for a shoe anyway - especially one that may not work.

I'm with you!  The Saucony Omni's were fine until they "improved" them.  Switched to New Balance 769's which are absolutely perfect.  The adjustment period of finding the right shoe that didn't aggravate me was agonizing.  I have been very pleased with the 769's which are, according the New Balance, an award winning shoe.  But guess what?  They're discontinued.    I just bought 3 pairs to last me for a while.  The only good thing is they go on sale when they are discontinued.

My other beef is that Americans pay $80 for good shoes and the same ones in Canada are $140. So much for free trade.

I hardly ever get satisfied with shoes straight from the box--I usually personalized them one way or the other--some very minor, others, well, not so minor.

Sometimes the uncomfortable arch may be just a matter of exchanging the insole with the insole with less arch cushion.  I usually keep all the insoles from all the other "retired" shoes and store them.  If my new shoes have some uncomfortable feel to it, one of the first things I would do is to switch the insole.  You've got to remember; hardly any of us have the right foot and left foot exactly the same (well, of course, in the mirror image!).  In my case, my right foot is very slightly smaller than my left and my left arch slightly lower.  It is quite natural to feel right shoe and left shoe a bit different.

If it's just the arch, you can easily slice some pieces off from the bottom of the arch on your insole.  I know it's rather scarey to "modify" $120~150 shoes; but it's either that or pay another $120~150 or, at best, pay another $40 for fancy insole.  Crazy...!

I can only run in acics Nimbus or Cumulus (nuetral).  Is there a Nike shoe that would be comparable to those types?  Thanks for your help.

Lots of other good shoes on the market if you think Asics aren't serving you well.

The Nike LunarGlide is a lot like the Nimbus, the glides might be a little stiffer.
