What are your 2013 Goals?! (Did you achieve 2012's Goals?) (Read 880 times)

KristenR

I just started running in October, so my goal for 2012 was simply to finish a 5k. I did that on Dec 2nd with a time of 33:39

    My goals for 2013 are:

    1) stay consistent with running and increase mileage

    2) continue to run once a week with my 9yo daughter (this run works perfectly as my recovery run) We are planning on doing a color run together in July Smile

    3) run a sub-30 5K

      My 2012 Goals:

      Lose 100lbs - Done

Run my first 5k in May - Done

      Keep running, no specific goal....

      My 2013 Goals:

      First 1/2 marathon in April

      First marathon in May

Run 1300 miles for the year (so far, I'm behind on this one)

        My 2012 goals:

        1) Run consistent and injury free - FAIL! I had ITB issues early in the year and shoulder issues for the majority of the year.

        2) Run a sub-27 4 mile race - FAIL! I reached 27:06

        3) Run a sub-21 5K - FAIL! My 5K time slowed down from last year due to the injuries and weight gain (5-10lbs)

        4) Run my first ultra - FAIL! I did complete 40+ miles in 12 hours, but that approximately 70% of that was walking due to ITB issues.

Basically I failed at every 2012 goal I set for myself. I'm hoping 2013 is better.

        2013 goals:

        1) Recover from shoulder surgery, run consistently, and lose the weight I gained over the last year.

        2) Run a sub-21 5K

        3) Run 1,500 miles

        4) Run my first ultra.

Naturally my goals all hinge on a smooth recovery and consistent running. I hope to be cleared to run on February 5th.

My 2012 goals were to run 1500 miles and do one race per month...I ran 1700 miles and did 13 races (5ks, 10k, halfs, a warrior dash).

My 2013 goals are to run 1500 miles and get my half marathon time to 1:45 or less (PR is 1:47:00) while focusing a little more on competing in endurance and dressage with my mare.

Fell short of my racing goals in 2012.

Keeping it simple this year.  Forget about times.  Run every day.

Me too, Running every day for the past 40 or so and I like how it has changed my mentality about running.  Gaffing off for a day, then two, then three, then one more, no longer an option, for I know I will run each day. :-)

PS.  Fat Lenny, you inspired me to change my subtext on a whim :-)

I don't normally like to do new year's resolutions, but my daughter is getting married in September and I haven't run consistently in the last three or four years.  I would like to run consistently this year and lose the extra weight by my daughter's wedding.

I can't find the written version of my 2012 goals, so let's just pretend I got them all Clown. I did hit a couple of PR's in 2012, and placed well in all of my races, so I'll leave it at that. I also stopped running for 4 months from June to October due to sore feet and ankles, and got completely out of running shape and gained 10 lbs. Big fail there...  That problem was resolved with orthotics and I'm back in the saddle now...

So for 2013, I'm going to keep it simple.

                  1) Minor goal is to run more miles than last year, and hopefully hit 2013 miles or more for the year.

                  2) Major goal is to run  an aged-graded time for all of my races of 82% or higher after I turn 58 in March.

                         M58 A/G 82% Target times are:  1 mi, 5:31;  5K, 19:14;  10K, 39:59,  10 mi, 1:05:54,  HM, 1:27:40

My 2012 goals were a sub 36 10k and a sub 17:20 5k and I got them both with about 5 weeks to spare before the end of the year,  running a 35:57 followed by a 17:16.

My 2013 goals are a sub 33 10k and <15:50 5k. Both seem a tad out of reach at the moment, but November and December are still a ways away so hopefully plenty of time. I'm hoping to break 34 and 16:20 this spring which will be a good stepping stone for a fall assault.

Oh, and 3500+ miles for the year would be a nice bonus.

                      My 2012 goals were:

                      - run a sub-19:30 5k (18:49, done)

                      - run a sub-41 10k (40:18, then 39:44, then 38:57, then 38:27, done)

                      - maybe do a martathon (3:06 Victoria, done)

The 2013 goals are right in my tagline here:

It not only helps mentally, but I feel better physically too.  Last year I did 100 consecutive days at one point and never felt better.  It's almost all short, easy miles but it works for me.

I had pretty modest goals for 2012, my first year running.

                            2012 goals:

                            Run a half-marathon - done in April

Run 1,000 miles - done by early December

                            2013 goals:

Run at least three half-marathons: 1 of 3 done

                            Run 1,500 miles

                            Run a consistent 7:30-8:00 pace

Extend my LRs to the point where I'm ready to run a marathon

Drop my weight down another 10-ish lbs to 170

                            Current PRs:

                            5K: 27:06 (11/10/12) | 5M: 44:03 (6/1/13) | 10K: 1:00:48 (7/4/12)

                            15K: 1:27:53 (3/17/13) | 10M: 1:30:25 (4/13/13) | HM: 1:59:55 (4/28/13)

Next race: Ashland 4th of July 10K

                              2012:

This was my first full year running, as I started in August of 2011.

                              * Finish the RW "Run Your Butt Off" program. - Done.  I'd hoped to finish it in late 2011, but was delayed due to a back problem and ended up finishing in January or February.

                              * Run a 5K. - Done: I ran 3, with a PR of 32:28.

                              * Lose weight. - Done, sort of.  I lost about 20# in 2011, and am down a total of about 65#, but I still have a ways to go.

                              2013:

                              * Run consistently.  No zero-mileage weeks!

                              * Sub-30min 5K.

                              * Run a 10K.

                              * Finish a half marathon.  I want a medal.

                              * Lose more weight.  How much?  I dunno.

Life is short.  Running makes it seem longer.

                                2012 goals:

After an awful 2011 in which I was injured to start the year and then failed to manage my time properly and trained terribly, I set a few goals, one being to get back on track.

                                • Set marathon PR of sub-3:29 — ran 3:23 at Indy
                                • Set 10K PR of sub-43:10 — ran 42:46
                                • Set 5-mile PR of sub-34:28 — ran 33:58
                                • Run more than 1,500 miles — ran 1,841

                                2013 goals:

                                • Marathon PR
                                • BQ of sub 3:15
                                • Run more than 2,000 miles
                                • Run sub 20-minute 5K
                                • Stay healthy
