Jiggle, jiggle, jiggle.

Hi! I just opened the box to my Garmin 305 and after reading the information I am unclear to how to use the 305 with my MacBook. The disc, in the Garmin box says PC, so I am afraid to stick it my computer Undecided.....but yet there are people who responded to Eric's email who use MotionBased and their Macs.....could I please have tips and/suggestions for how to make this work? Big grin I am already happy with the actual Garmin 305......and I can wait until Eric gets it to jive with RA, but for the meantime what do I do? Thanks! Jilly

You will want to use motionbased to upload your data, http://www.motionbased.com. Make yourself a free account, then you can upload your data there and analyze it. You can also download Garmin Training Center for Mac, but this does not do a whole lot other than back up and give rough displays of your data. Download it here.

Thanks! I'll try it right now! Big grin

Hmmm....Trent, are you out there? Do I put the CD in? I went to the site, looked around and got scared, so I ran back to RA fast..... I'll keep reading manuals.....

Sounds like a feature request - an RA Chat Room!

Now that would be a cool thing! Smile I agree!

The CD is useless. Go to motionbased and set up an account here - http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/register/view.mb Next download the motionbased tool that lets you upload your workouts - http://motionbased.com/support/download/view.mb?tile=support.download.agent (You may have to install this on your Mac, but it should do it automatically) Then you can upload your data from your Forerunner here- http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/upload/view.mb (You may have to do this on Safari rather than on another browser) Obviously, make sure that your Forerunner is in the cradle when you do this Big grin Also, motionbased suggests that you delete your workouts from your GPS every few uploads.

For example, here was my pitiful attempt at a half marathon today, on motionbased - http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/episode/view.do?episodePk.pkValue=2262329 Your data can look like this too Big grin (just faster)

Hmmm...I'm always the slowest.....I don't do anything fast. Thanks for the tip about putting the Garmin in the cradle...I hadn't thought of that yet. And, I ran a 10K today with my friend, RochWill, and she pushed her 8 month twins in a doublewide stroller! I was impressed! Her pushing the stroller slowed her down to my speed and it was a fabulous day!

I frequently forget to put my Forerunner in the cradle. The post-run hypoglycemia and all. I was passed furiously in the last mile of a 5 mile run by a man pushing a double stroller, double wide. I was working every sinew and just about to fall over dead. He just jogs by me like he's not even working. And in a second he was gone. Sick. Sheesh.

... pushing a double stroller, double wide. .
Was it yellow? If so, that's what we had and we didn't pass anyone, but we came third for our age group (a miracle) and hung the ribbon the stroller proudly! I downloaded the MB agent and think that I am ready to plug the 305 in....I am so nervous for some reason...there's no possible way that they could both blow up....this feeling that I'm having is the same as when you jump a car battery..."is it red to red or red to black????" Okay, I'll count to three and do it! Smile Thanks!

Whoa! That is totally cool! Thanks for your assistance. Can I get this map that I just made into my courses? Or is that what Eric is working on? Awesome! Thanks! Jilly

Also, while I'm thinking about it, how did you insert that link under the word 'here.' When I have tried that the link ends up being erased and I'm left with the word......thanks in advance. Smile

Type in a word you want to be a link: Click Highlight it with your cursor. Then hit the button, above: < a="" />Click<> Then, in the < a="" />, add in the web address you want to link to, surrounded by href=" before and " after: < a="" href="http://www.runningahead.com" />Click<> (note, I added spaces in around the brackets so that you could see it, otherwise, RA would have turned them into links and you could not see how it was done)
