Let's get this started for May, since it's almost half over (and since I got my race in yesterday for the month).

Race Name: Medical Center 6K
Distance (if not obvious from the name): 6K
Date: 05/11/08
Location: Nashua, NH
Finish Time: 24:40
Goals: Under 25:00 and I would be happy, but super secret goal of 24:15ish, figuring if I could come in there for a 6K I would be deathly close to breaking 20:00 in the 5K next month

How did it go: It was not my day. I woke up with a sharp pain running from my right butt cheek to my right knee - felt like I pinched a nerve while sleeping or something. When I got to the race, I'm not sure what I ate the day before but I ended up hitting the porta potty about 5 times - luckiliy eased up by race time. Race was hillier than expected and my right leg had sharp shooting pains on every step of the downhills so I had to hold back a bit on those. Okay, that's enough excuses. I still came in under 25:00 and my pace was not all that bad overall.

May I join in the challenge? I plan on doing one race a month going forward (my first race was on Saturday).

Race Name: Safe From the Sun 5k
Distance (if not obvious from the name) 5K
Date: 05/10/08
Location: Villanova, PA
Finish Time: 31:10
Goals: Under 38:00, trying to do negative splits

How did it go: Great first race, everything seemed to fall in place. Felt good, warmed up well, didn't go out too fast, and paced things so that I could give a little more each mile and yet feel I left it all on the course.
Chris 2008 goal: Consistent 25-30 mpw by Dec. 31. 5K PR: 29:58 (6/6/2008) HM PR: First Race 9/21/2008 Running in the 2008 Philadelphia Distance Run (eep!) My running blog--the Road to 13.1

Was looking to come in under 2:15 so I guess I did it.

The course was hillier than I expected. Still a great experience, would consider doing it again.

Race Name: Andy Payne Memorial Marathon
Distance: 26.2miles
Date: 05/24/08
Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Finish Time: 3:46:53
Goals: I was there strictly to get a marathon for the month of May and get in a long run before next Saturday's RNR San Diego Marathon.

Well the day was warm and windy. The race started at 6:30 and my vehicle said it was already 81 degrees out and felt every bit like it. The course was flat and wonderful except for the wind. It seemed like we had a head wind from 3 sides of the course and when we should havehad a tail wind it was blocked by homes and trees. It was a somewhat overcast day so never got much warmer then the mid 80's but the wind only seemed to increase with each lap. I finished 7th overall and first for my age group which is one of the things I like about a small marathon. The support was okay but you definately don't want to pass up a water stop because they were 2-3 miles apart. I also forgot to pack my gels (first time that ever happened) and had to rely on another runner to provide me with some. Thankfully he had extra and they were exactly what I use right down to the flavor. He only had 2 extra so I used them sparingly. I think I found that I like 2-3 better then the normal 4 I use. Anyways 2008 is still looking good and I plan on hitting June's marathon early.

1/5/08 Mississippi Blues marathon (Jackson, MS)
1/13/08 First Light Marathon (Mobile, AL)
2/17/08 Pensacola Marathon (Pensacola, FL)
2/24/08 Mardi Gras Marathon (New Orleans, LA)
3/22/08 Grasslands Run (Marathon) (Decatur, TX)
4/26/08 Country Music Marathon (Nashville, TN)
5/24/08 Andy Payne Memorial Marathon (Oklahoma City, OK)

Have one more for May.

John Kelly Half Marathon
Hyannis, Ma
2:12:31

This course really beat me up in February, died at the nine mile mark so I had to redeem myself.
Wanted to finish under 2:14 which would give me a new PR at this distance. Guess I just made it!

John Kelly Half Marathon
Hyannis, Ma

This course was very hilly but was a pretty run especially around the beaches. Had a tuff time keeping my pace so my time was off. It just wasn't my best day but I finished at 2:15. Confused
