I'll start with the problem, then get to the background, just to do things differently.
In my left leg only, my hip flexor, adductor group (?) and a small area at the bottom of my bottom have been feeling weak and in a bit of pain. It doesn't seek to get much worse after my runs, and never seems to really recover much either.
Background: 29 May I was playing soccer as physical training with my unit. Lots of guys don't really play, so I wasn't wearing my cleats. I had my foot slip, and it twisted pretty bad as I fell. I limped off, stretched it out, thought it was ok, and went back on the field. Showering before going back to work, I had to hold myself up because my leg wouldn't stabilize. We have a direct acces physiotherapist clinic we can go to during morning PT hours, so I went straight there before work, she did a quick exam, said come back on monday, but don't run, but that she thought that the ligaments were all intact. (biggest worry was obviously the knee on a twist and fall) All the muscles in my leg felt at least strained, they'd taken the blow like troopers to protect my knee. I ended up taking 5 days off completely, then 2 days easy running, then, like an idiot, ran the base running championship because it's a team event. I won it without pushing too hard, and didn't feel too bad.
I'm now in a different province on an army course, don't have 100% control over what I'm doing for workouts, and my weakened left leg doesn't seem to be recovering fast enough. I'm trying to keep my easy running up anyway, and get some long runs in, but the big thing I've changed is that I'm not doing any track work.
I'm still doing ok, but I'm wondering if I should stop doing extra beyond what I have to, or go see the doc to get out of running completely for a bit. |
