Does the Garmin 2/3/405 GPS function work with an armband or does the watch itself have the GPS? Also, if the watch was in a pants pocket, would the GPS unit work? Thanks. Gearnoob

The watch is the GPS unit. No arm band. Not sure about it working in a pocket.

I do think it will work in a pocket but I've never tried it. I know that it will work if I wear a long sleeve shirt and the shirt is covering the unit (205).
I've used mine in a backpack and it worked fine. The thing to worry about it in a pants pocket is buttons getting pressed accidentally.

It will work in a pants pocket. It doesn't need a direct line of sight to the satellites. Indeed, triathlon swimmers generally wear theirs underneath their swim caps for the aquatic portion of their races.
