Weird Hamstring Pain (Read 128 times)

I have recently recovered from Plantar Fasciitis, have new orthotics, and am trying to build mileage back up. I may have done so too fast.

I am getting this weird pain in the section of my hamstring which is directly behind my knee. I was somewhat worried about patello-femoral pain syndrome, but the pain is certainly in the muscle. It feels exactly like Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness that one would get from weightlifting, but it has been bothering me for almost two weeks. I have had ITBS before and I know for sure that this isn't ITBS.

It only hurts in the morning. When I wake up I am in moderate pain, and 30 minutes later I am pain free for the rest of the day (including running).

Is this just a growing pain from increasing mileage? Should I reduce mileage until it goes away? I have already tried taking multiple days of complete rest and mainlining ibuprofen, also stretching the hamstring, neither have been helpful.

The pain doesn't really bother me too bad, I just want to make sure that it doesn't turn into an injury.

could your hamstring be tightening up while you are sleeping? And once you are up it is just stretching itself out?

Training is futile... i've seen the error in my ways...
