I have two pairs of lululemon running capris and two pairs of adidas running capris... I don't usually run in the full length tights. If it gets really, really cold I will either add knee length compression socks or pull out an old pair of full length under armour tights. I like the adidas ones the very best, but the lululemon are also pretty great. The under armour ones are ok... they get the job done when the temps really fall, but aren't quite as comfortable. I did have a bit of a chafing issue at first with the lulu tights, but now they're fine so maybe I just had to "break them in" or something. Hah. I always go commando. Felt weird at first, feels just fine now.

So I tried out the Brooks Infiniti tights yesterday on a 12 mile cold, snowy road run. I believe these are the infiniti 1, not 2. but they are brand new.

They were amazing! I've never been able to find a pant yet that stays in place the WHOLE run! This one does. It is a light compression pant, which is perfect for those cold weather runs. But not too tight to run in, as I find the CW-X pants. Also, they are very flattering and I could see myself wearing them to run errands and such. Finally, they were warm enough for a 32 degree run, but not too warm. I have never worn insulated tights (these are not) so I can't compare these. But I highly recommend these pants!

I think they were only $45 on Amazon last  time I checked.

I was looking for winter running tights a few weeks ago.  My go-to online store Runningwarehouse (amazing return policy) was sold out of my size in all of the Brooks choices.  I ended up with a pair of north face insulated tights.  I am fine in capris (mid-calf length) until about 25, and then regular tights until below 20.  I wanted to have some warmer ones on-hand so I couldn't bail or have to give up a long run because it was cold!  I know that the north face stands by their products indefinitely.  If it ever tears apart you can send it back to them for a refund or repair.  I probably could have gotten a cheaper option, but I'd rather pay a little more and end up with a quality product that I love, rather than one that simply does the job, kwim?  Brooks stands by their products also, but maybe not to the degree the TNF does.

Yay, glad they worked out well! I ordered a pair online the other day. I also find that I really like my Target $25 tights. I had gotten them last year and was in there today and they still have them - at least very similar.  So I think I'll try the Brooks for longer runs and the Target ones for shorter runs. I'm not going to drop another $100 on the CWX, I might attempt to sew the hole and deal with the reflectors ripping. I washed them inside out this morning and will do that from now on.

I love running warehouse and always order from there. I LOVE how they have free 2day shipping all the time and free return shipping.

Zappos is starting to have an impressive selection of running gear.  I just bought a pair of Nike tights from them, and they are the only place I found what I was looking for in a petite length.  They also have the Brooks Infinity 2 tights and capris for $59.99 and $65 respectively.

God, I hate they way my legs look in running tights.  I alwyas have to wear shorts ( over them )  since I feel so "exposed" in them.

That's why I normally wear shorts unless it's under 25. But, the older I get , it seems the colder I get.  My DH got me some running "pants'  not really tights for Xmas.  Man, I just look bad in them. But, I wore them, and was really comfortable when it was 22 last week.

I envy the ladies who wear the capri ones.

I have gotten to the point where I realized that I have NEVER driven down the road and thought, "Wow, that person does not look good in their running clothes!  I normally check out their gear (kinda like window shopping), their shoes, and then wish I was running.  I figure if I have never had negative thoughts about someone's running clothing, why should I think anyone else would about mine? So I dress for comfort and don't worry about it!  Comfort is #1!  Style and how I look in it is way down the list Wink

And for what it is worth, I LOVE LOVE LOVE my C9 tights from Target.  The Cold weather ones.  They work really well for me, down so far to the mid 20s but I haven't felt like I was close to my cold max yet at all.  Plus they were not expensive, which is a huge plus to me as I am a cheapskate at heart and their price tag makes me love them even more!

I have the Target ones - I have a pair in black and gray, both have a purple stripe. Wonder if they're the same ones, they were around $25? I just have not tested them for runs longer than 5 miles yet. If they worked for me, I'd be THRILLED....

I want to thank you for this and for the satisfying belly laugh and insight it gave me.  "Wow that person just does NOT look good in their running clothes!"  Extremely funny because I am concerned about this happening, but the reality is people only notice the "running" part.

Use your momentum...keep going.  You know you can make it.

Thank you for that info. I live where it gets super cold with an icy wind a lot so these sound perfect.  I have a $25 credit on Amazon so head over now !!

Great advice! You are all so right, why be concerned about what I look like?!?!?!?!?!

I'll check out the ones from Target --  thanks !

                                Right girl!

If anything, when I see somebody out running in what looks like a very heavy and cumbersome ensemble, my thought is "Girl, you need some tights!"

I myself used to wear Adidas Basketball warm up pants or snowpants(both are hot, baggy, and hide your flaws). Trust me, you will not only be more comfortable in your run but people seriously don't care. Actually, most people think you are awesome for getting out there.
