Any update on this? Did you get an EKG? Anyway, it could also be a cause of what you intake to your body, like booze, caffeine, etc.

We have Doctors on Demand through work, which is, as I understand it, a video consultation with a doctor without any actual exam.   And it is covered by our insurance.  http://www.doctorondemand.com/

Vaguely related and may be an interesting factlet for your Americans: in the UK the National Health Service as a 24h hotline. There's a hierarchy of staff there so the first people you speak to aren't medical professionals, simply trained monkeys. But if some of their box-ticking warrants it, you'll get passed up to a relevantally-trained nurse. You then get a "don't worry", "buy X, Y and Z OTC meds" or "an ambulance is on its way". Dial 111 if you're in the UK and ever need this.

I guess it's not serious enough given that I can't get an appointment with a cardiologist before December.

Did you discuss it with your GP and get their initial assessment?  Or were they not that concerned either, hence why you have to wait so long to see a specialist?  Just curious.

Not running for my health, but in spite of it.

I dialed directly to cardiologists found through my insurance's doctors directory, I wanted to find someone close by so that limited my choices to 2 docs. I think it's just a scheduling thing, the doc I found have multiple offices and only goes to the one near me once or twice a week. I guess if I am more symptomatic they might have given me higher priority.

Has it continued to occur or become more pronounced?

It's very common to take a month or two to get into the cardiologist, even when referred by your family doc.

Just got back from seeing the cardiologist. Nurse did a 12 lead ECG on me for a few minutes, but no one mentioned any results afterward, so I assume it was normal. Told doc about my symptoms, and he didn't seem worried. He's also a marathoner, and he said I likely have premature something something (PVC???), and in most cases these things are benign, although some can be fatal.

Me: "But you can tell the normal ones from fatal ones, right?"

Doc: "Yes, in the fatal ones you just fall off and die"

Now I'm wearing a Zio XT for two weeks, it's a heart monitor gizmo that appears to be designed by Apple. He said I won't hear from him again unless he see issues with the recorded results. Even though I didn't get much info/diagnosis out of this visit, I guess I am pleased that he did not seem at all concerned.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering if you were going to see the Doc before your race (yea, I was lurking on the Ultra forum).  Glad he wasn't too concerned and has you wearing the XT.  I wore one of those for a trail marathon. There was also a 100M going on at the same time and some of those people were wearing them as well. Too bad you can't wear yours for the race.

I don't really feel prepared enough for the race in mid Dec, especially after losing the last 2 weeks to cold/sinus issue (and holiday traveling), so I'm now eyeing possibly Bandera or RR, but still uncommitted. Getting my motivation back after slacking off during Thanksgiving has been challenging, I'm getting too used to the warm and comfy couch...
