Bonk City (Read 1030 times)

Well, today was an 18-miler for me (the longest run of my life). I did it on the treadmill at the gym. I finished the 18 miles, but near the end I was doing more walking that running. It took me 3:35, when I normally run at a 9:30-10:00 mm pace for long runs.
A long run shouldn’t be significantly longer than a previous long run. You have only tracked 1 week so I can’t determine what your long run was before that. You should have run a 12-13 miler before attempting an 18 mile run. If your previous long run was 6-8 then you are going to have a tough time with 18 miles. 3 1/2 hrs is a long time though. My longest training run is around 3:10 (but covered over 21 miles) and I was struggling at the end of that. Just keep at it and the miles will come easier. Nothing wrong with running on a TM though. I sweat buckets too but I keep a water bottle with me and drink every 1-2 miles.
