I have in the past but sparingly. I used to run a lot with a top Big Ten runner for U of I. We sort of had an agreement, if he wanted to do a slow day he ran my pace and if I wanted a speed workout I tried to keep up with him.
As already said, it's not great to do too often but is effective in limited doses.

I agree that running with faster people sometimes can be a good thing. Fwiw, the point I was trying to make is that I think it is a common misconception that runners have kill themselves in workouts all the time to make substantial gains. I think it was Bowerman who said "train don't strain" and Lydiard said something along the same lines.
