Curious about barefoot or minimalist shoe running? (Read 1188 times)

Barefoot Runner

There seems to be some significant interest in barefoot and/or minimalist shoe running here.  For those that may have even a remote interest in barefoot or minimalist shoe running, I am holding a contest that will give away two copies of my barefoot and minimalist shoe running guide (details here).  All you have to do is become a follower of my blog:

    Jason's 'Barefoot Chronicles" blog

and/or become a fan of my Barefoot Running University Facebook page:

Barefoot Running University fan page on Facebook

Winners will be randomly picked Saturday (2/13) evening.  If you're already a follower and/or fan, you're already entered.  Thanks for the support!

I think the point is that you are trying to give advice, but you don't have your running log visible. It is sort of ironic (in the absolutely wrong definition of the word).

Oh, THAT log!  That makes sense.  I don't use the log here (though I may switch once I start my next training cycle).

i had been using Running2Win (username Last Place Jason), and I've been using Garmin connect (username robillardj) since getting a 305 this last fall.  My log isn't very impressive lately, this is my "offseason".  If you check R2W, my main training occurs between May and October (prepping for 100 miler).

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

Does a training log really qualify someone to give advice?  I understand the skepticism, but training logs seem like a poor measure of someone's teaching abilities.

The point, as I understood it, was that your logs aren't on this site. What so wrong with RA? lol

                      Yes*.

You have three links on how to wear pink shirts in your signature line, and then add two more in you post.  It gets old.

                      No offense.

Another point is that this thread is an ad.

(From some of the stuff I've posted in other threads, it may seem that I have something against barefoot running. I don't. It just seems to be the current "hot" thing like P90x, step aerobics, etc.  It's a thing that I hope sticks around, but barefoot running won't create world peace and so I get amused and then faux-upset at all the play it gets.)

Edited to add: don't be hating on pink shirts.

without a log, you maybe mistaken as a spammer because your post promotes your sites.

there is a difference between wearing pink shirts and "wearing pink shirts"

It's a 5k. It hurt like hell...then I tried to pick it up. The end.

Understood.  It is a bit spammy on my part, I apologize.  I haven't participated in the general running forum much, mostly the barefoot group forum.  I've really only added my 2 cents on the barefoot and/or minimalist topics here.

If it helps, here's the link to my R2W log: http://www.running2win.com/community/public-log.asp?m=Last+Place+Jason&k=log

The point of the blog and website is twofold- provide a source of information for people that may be interested in trying barefoot or minimalist shoe running and to bring those individuals together to share knowledge.  To achieve those goals, I need to drive traffic to the site.  The giving away of the ebook is one such attempt.  Having the addresses in the signature line is another method.  The point isn't to sell the ebook, most people should be able to learn to run barefoot or make the transition to minimalist shoes with very little guidance (which I provide on the site and blog, and include links to other sites with similar info.)  If that doesn't work, there are a lot of vids available via YouTube that can be helpful.  Chirunning and POSE books are helpful, too.  You may be able to find a mentor in your area to help (I have a list on my site, but there are more listed on another forum that I won't mention here ).  If all that fails, then someone should consider buying the ebook.  It's just an expanded version of the stuff I post on my site and blog based on my experiences of building up to ultras.

As far as the RA log... it has to be better than the R2W log.  My 1997 Pontiac Sunfire is more user-friendly.
