Race Eve Meals? (Read 811 times)

    I think it's the flannel.
    Love it.
      I don't have a race eve meal, but if it's a morning race I'll usually try to eat some bran cereal with skim milk and then hydrate with about a quart of water.

        Night before: Traditional pasta with red sauce Morning of (if anything): One of three things: 1/2 bagel toasted with butter (NYC tradition only - the bagel HAS to be gotten from the proper deli), 1/2 - 1 whole wheat english muffin with jam or whole wheat toaster waffle with maple syrup 15-0 minutes before: 1/2 gel or 1-2 shot blocks with caffeine. I don't drink coffee, so I've got to get it somehow. If the race (or training run) is long - over, I dunno, 8 miles or so - I will also drink about .5 liter of Gatorade the morning of, followed by continual sips of water.

          No special night before meal but in the AM it has to be good old fashioned Quaker Oats. You know how far you can go on a bowl of that stuff? Plus it is easy on the stomach.
