Is this a good idea? (Read 539 times)

Hi. For the past few weeks I've been on the following diet:

Breakfast: Omlet, banana, milk, water (sometimes a waffle)

Lunch: Salad (spinach, tomatoes, bell pepper, oil, vinegar), maybe one small slice of pizza, or a small amount of pasta, water

Dinner: Meatball sandwich, hamburger, pineapple, maybe chicken, small amount of frozen yogurt, water

I run about 3 miles every day (between lunch and dinner), work out a few days a week, and drink water throughout the day.

Do you guys think this is a healthy habit? If not, what about the above would you change?

    Thanks!

Maybe I am misunderstanding, but that dinner seems like a lot of food.

First off, I'd incorporate more variety.  You eat like that for 365 days a year? ;o)

Sriously, though, I believe in "how much you eat" more so than "what you eat".  Yours looks like a typical western meals.  You can eat yourself to death if you eat bucketful of good food.

        No offense.

          Vegetables in the evening.

Apple and/or handful of nuts as a snack.

Drink when you are thirsty... don't pound water just because.  The "80oz a day" thing is a myth.

Vary your dinner. I am assuming you mean meatball sandwich OR hamburger OR chicken.  Not all at once.  Even so, that's not many choices and a whole lot of ground beef.

And whatever the components are, eat the right level of calories for your base metabolic level and your exercise.  Everybody's number is different... go by how your clothes fit.

And eat a piece of pie every now and then.

          Ultima tastes like failure.

The dinner is pretty big indeed, but the purpose of it (as I currently understand it) is to get some protein (from meat) in my system after a workout. I might be overdoing it, maybe, but I am not sure.

I could be wrong but I took it as "you eat one of these things and alternate"...  That's why I said; alternate those few dishes throughout the year...???  It's like saying; "Okay, every Monday and Thursday, you eat meatball..."  That'll drive me crazy!

If you are eating a meatball sandwich, a hamburger, AND chicken... why, yes.  Yes you are.  Unless they are very very tiny sandwiches and hamburger.

A healthy helping of chicken is the size of a deck of playing cards.  And that's probably enough. Frankly, running 3 miles a day simply doesn't burn many calories.

And in general, smaller meals throughout the day and/or doing your bigger meals early in the day is a better strategy than eating a giant dinner.  Your body can only process so much at one time... and eating like this just before bed is counter-productive.

That does sound like a good idea. I've only been doing this diet for about a week or two and I am only 18 years old, so I don't think I've damaged my body too much yet. I plan on making some changes starting tomorrow morning.

                  No offense.

Nah, you haven't "damaged" anything at all.  And you are eating way better already than I ate at 18.

                    Eat more veggies.

Noted. I definitely will try out something different tomorrow. See this page for the menu I have to choose from.

From what I have read, eating many times through out the day is best for you. I personally think people focus on protein too much, but then again I am a vegetarian.
