Century Mark (Read 1163 times)

Normally I don't take the time to appreciate the hard work I put into training for this marathon, but I hit 103 miles this week and I feel great.  I am not as so much proud of the mileage as I am with the fact that I have trained intelligently so I could can handle it.  It's all downhill for the next 5 weeks - 90, 80, 65, 50, and 35 + marathon...

    Goals for 2011: Sub 16 5K Sub 33 10K Sub 1:15 Half Top 3 at Maine Marathon

Congrats -- kick some butt at your marathon!

That's great!  Training intelligently...who wudda thunk it?

        The only difference
        That I see
Is you are exactly the same
        As you used to be

Very nice to peak perfectly.  Good luck with the taper - and the race!

          testing testing

That's a long taper if you ask me. I like to peak 2-3 weeks out. Congrats on the century!

I sort of get his thinking process here.  Build up the mileage and then I am guessing build up the intensity (speed workouts/Hills etc) while lowering the mileage towards the race.  I'm sort of going along that same course of action.  So many different ways to train for a marathon.  Who knows what is the best?  I think in the end we are all so different.  I've learned one thing I don't second guess anyone faster than I am on his or her training.  However, you may be faster than DJ?  I know I am not.

BTW - Great job Diamond J.

              2013 Goals:

              • Sub 18:30 5K ()
              • Sub 1:29:30 1/2 marathon (1:29:52 try at Heart Mini 3-18-2012 )
              • Sub 3:010:00 Marathon ()

I've been following some of Renato Canova's training methods.

Short taper keeps the fuel storage levels high.

                10 wk Example: 116 miles; 118 miles; 131 miles, 90 miles(1/2 marathon race week); 106 miles; 93 miles(rest week); 134 miles; 112 miles; 129miles; 60 miles+Marathon

This isn't my plan for Chicago, but one proposed for a 2:26 female.

If I can peak at 120 I'll be pumped.

This is just one small piece to the puzzle.
