I have an HTC Tilt phone, and is cumbersome to take with me during runs, and I should have one for emergencies esp. since I have a toddler, so for that I want to get a lighter phone. does anybody know if I can get a second non-contracted phone and switch the sim card using the same number with that for when I run and back to the other phone when I am not.

Thanks

Good question...I have no answer, but that's a really smart solution for those who need something like a Blackberry or Treo for day-to-day, but want something smaller to run with. What about a Trac Phone? Though I think most of the models they carry are kinda big.

I have a Samsung Juke (I think only available through Verizon). Very small, very portable. If I am wearing a skirt I tend to carry it in my hand, since it's still a little heavy to stay on my waistband (most of my skirts have kind of loose waistbands that things don't clip to very well).

I would think so. We just lived in Italy for a couple years and that's what we did. I'd ask someone at a phone store for sure though before you go buying an extra phone. The phone system over in europe is quite a bit different that here.

Unless the phone you buy is locked to your carrier, it should work.

Maybe a prepaid phone?
When I had family visiting from overseas, they got one for cheap.
AT&T has an online deal right now. $35 for a phone and $20 credit.

Yes, you can use any unlocked GSM phone with your current SIM card.

I'm assuming you have AT&T or T-Mobile as they are the only nation wide GSM providers in the States.

If you have an old phone from your previous contract that still works but has a better form factor, just switch the SIM out and you''ll have a working phone, with all your contacts too.

You could also buy a cheap one from eBay, do watch out for scams though, or buy a prepaid phone from your carrier and just use your current SIM.

I don't think all tracfones are GSM and I think they're locked down so they don't work with other carriers.

I use a Trac phone. It seems pretty cheap and I just use it for emergencies, or for kids when they go off to track meets or something. It doesn't weigh much.
