Thanks! I try to keep my humor about it all. I must!! I am 52 (soon to be 53) and have known for the past 2 year what is going to kill me. Running is going to put that day off for a long time!

To paraphrase an old poster: Today is the first day of the rest of your training. It doesn’t matter where you started or how far you’ve come. Today is the day. Your training didn’t start 6 weeks ago. Your training started the last time you hit the road. John “the Penguin” Bingham Life is not tried, it is merely survived if you're standing outside the fire

Gregg, That is a story that you should be proud of. You've stuck with it through some tough challenges. I'm sure you will do wonderful at the half in May, and you've got a great 5K time!! Smile

Kudos to your efforts Gregg! Keep it up. And for everyone else who is a fellow slug to runner, you all deserve a cheer! I still see all kinds of slugs in my daily travels and I am doing my best to convince them to get active, get healthy, feel good, live longer! Dad-o

I see you are from So Ca or as I call it The Peoples Socialist Republic of California. I was born in Santa Monica and raised in Simi Valley. I don't really miss it! The ground here doesn't move! 3 big ones was enough!! I do miss prospecting out of Azusa though! So were in that mess are you?

Great story. Looking forward to hearing about your progress as the Mini approaches ... only 113 days and counting! Shocked

                    Are you running it too?

Yup. Big grin I was born and raised in Indy, and much of my family is still there. Two of my three brothers are also running, and we're working on the holdout. Last year's Mini was my first half-marathon. I did much better than I expected, and I think that's when I started to get very into running. I went on to do two more 1/2's and the marathon described in my original post after that.

You had a great finish I see! There is at least one other here also running. We need a Running Ahead Banner to meet under

I'm in West LA near Santa Monica. I love running to the beach and in the little Santa Monica neighborhoods. The weather is so amazing to me! I've been in a couple of small earthquakes in the past 5 years, but nothing major. I'm just here for another year or two probably Smile

The beaches are nice! I have been gone for almost 13 years now an have not gone back even to visit. I like the winters here, although it can make running a pain. If you have not done this and they still do it (13 years IS a long time) drive up the coast to Ventura VERY EARLY on July 4th and watch the Dawn's Early Light Fireworks show!! Even if there is a morning fog it is worth the trip. It lights up the fog in all the colors!
