I'm definitely a fan of Firefly and Serenity although I admittedly didn't see either until the show was already cancelled and available on DVD. There's always the one-in-a-million chance that the popularity of the show on DVD will potentially bring it back at some point in the future. Hey, it happened with Family Guy!
I don't drool over Mal like the ladies but the girls on the show are definitely easy on the eyes. I'm a fan of sci-fi stuff in general so that's where my interest in the show came from. It bugs me that good shows get cancellled all the time as well. I was a HUGE fan of Farscape (on the Sci-Fi Channel) and that too got cancelled. At least it made it through 4 seasons and a 2 hour special that attempted to wrap things up a bit.

I'm definitely not a Buffy/Angel fan, either (way to corny, almost as bad as that Charmed show ) but has anyone seen the "Buffy, The Musical" episode? It's rather famous so I think they rerun it a lot... and I must admit it's one of the most entertaining things I've ever seen on telivision. I'm a big fan of scrubs too, though I mostly just catch the reruns. The amazing thing about that show is that it's basically a sitcom, but with no laughtrack! Seriously, you start to realize what an amazingly refreshing change that is if you consider how rare it is (even Seinfeld, Cheers, and other great sitcoms had the stupid laughtrack) (The only comparison I can think of was MASH... they removed the laughtrack sometimes). Plus, Scrubs doesn't play to the same worn-out old cliche humor that most other sitcoms do. Call me an elitist (I've been called worse) but I can't belive "According to Jim" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" have lasted this long with their completely predictable jokes about fat/dumb men who watch football and ignore their unrealistically beautiful wives. (insert laugh track here) |

anybody watch Friday Night Lights the tv show ? Not quite as good as the movie but its pretty good. I enjoy it because football sort of takes a backseat and instead focuses on other issues. Not too mention that Explosions in the Sky does most of the music and they're my favorite band.

| First time poster here...I too am a huge fan of t firefly series...got hooked on it when my younger sister made me watch it...and I haven't regretted it since...and the companion on firefly is the main "bad girl" on stargate SG-1 now. I saw her on one of the season 10 episodes of stargate, and thought..."you know, I've seen her before..." (and I believe the rest of the final season of SG-1 will air starting in April, if you want to catch her on that show)Another great show a few years ago was Titus...and of course it got cancelled before the second season was done, if I remember correctly. I have to agree with Jake...everytime I start to get really hooked on a thought-provoking, well-written show, it gets cancelled. |

I saw a few episodes of the first season or 2 of SG-1...that was a pretty decent show. Just never kept up with it. I also LOVED Titus--that guy is a riot and the writing was really pretty good, too.
I'm now looking forward to watching the new show "Drive," which Nathan Fillion (Capt. "tightpants" Mal) will be a star on. I'm kind of surprised that he would be willing to do another FOX show, though. Apparently Joss Whedon is swearing off any associations with that network after the way they screwed Firefly.

Yeah, my dad and I were huge firefly fans, and were super excited to see serenity when it came out. Didn't like that one part of the movie near the end though...(don't want to say it for spoilers). Poor guy. But I have the dvd set of firefly and the movie, and I have to re-watch the series at least once every couple months! Gotta love how Mal and Inara are constantly getting into fights because they refuse to admit they actually like each other. I wish that would have resolved itself in the movie somehow!
Oh boy, I"m going to that special hell...lol! |

Hi! I love firefly/serentiy! I just watched the movie on HBO and the episodes on hului.com, but now I want to start over again. We are having a brown coat get together in CT in mid- Sept if anyone is close. |

Oh man, I love Firefly so much. I was trying to think of something good to watch before bed tonight, and I think this might be it now haha.
Anyone watch Doctor Who or Torchwood?
Also, there's a miniseries called Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog that was produced by Joss Whedon and has Nathan Fillian. I think you can get it on itunes or watch it on hulu.com. It's definitely worth watching. |
