Average Pace - to the summary page (Read 1908 times)

I have read the many reasons why pace tracking is not important, but I have to add my reason why it is important to me. I have lung disease. Tracking my pace is the most valuable way for me to know how well my lungs are functioning. I share this information with my doctor. (or at lease I did when I had easy to read graphs) I have a very regular training routine so the data can be compared easily. I really miss the pace infomation that I had at CR. I am not looking for sympathy here, but an understanding that there are many different types of runners. I happen to be a very slow turtle. I hope the turtle haters can appreciate that we are all different and that we run for various reasons. One big reason for me is to keep on breathing.

It is great you are out running, battling your disease. Your run pace is important. Your average pace across runs, it would seem, tells your doc very little. I would suspect that the overall pace from each run (especially the outliers) would be of more value.

      Why is it sideways?

If you go to "Tools," then "Calculators" you can find a calculator and enter any mileage and time for a given period and it will calculate the average pace.

Jeff, Because I care about this so much, I have created a pace calculator that allows me to put in my entire run, split by split. Most of my runs are not based on exact mile markers, therefore I set it up so that I can enter the spilts at whatever mile marker I decide. The following is an example. As you can see I run very slow. Sad It may look weird that I list my time including 1/100th os a second, but this is what lets Excel understand that the time I enter is minutes and seconds. What helps the doc, is seeing how I average over the months and years. We have tried some medications, and the best measure of how they are working, is to see how the pace changes (or doesn't). My problem with the site is that I can't create summary reports of my pace by the month or by the year. Those are the reports my doc and I review at each appointment. This is an example of my pace calculator. It's great for a specific run, but it doesn't give me the overall summary. Hey, Eric, isn't this similar to one of the features you're working on for the next update?
