Eyewear/Sunglasses (Read 940 times)

I buy cheap ones, because I tend to lose them constantly.  I just make sure they fit snugly enough - I bounce up and down in the store and get strange looks.

I don't trust myself with expensive sunglasses.  The ones I bought a year or so at Academy have worked out fine so far.

I had a pair of $30 cheapos from college, after like 5 years I finally slammed them in a car door and broke them.

I replaced them with $160 Oakley's, which I loved.  3 months later I dropped them in a taxi.

I replaced those with $40 USASport sunglasses from an expo.  I had them about 5 years before forgetting them when I returned a rental car.

I replaced those with $130 Ray-Ban's.  10 months later my daughter broke them.

In the market for another good pair of cheapos, I bought some at CVS that cracked in 2 months.

I wear contacts when running to, I just go to Wal-Mart and pick a pair out in the fishing section you can get uv protection or polarized glasses that work just fine I been doing it for years, I figure I pay enough for regular glasses so going cheap on sunglasses under 10.00 dollars,  and they work fine when you go fishing to .

But can you see anything I would like to know if I am running up to a dog or a tree stump.

Yes, I would know after it bites me.( SR and friends)

See now, I wouldn't have been clever enough to make that joke.  That's funny.

Seriously - I think the point is that if one is wearing contacts, then cheap sunglasses are fine, so dog v stump would be see-able because of the contacts.

I'm gonna need some new prescription sunglasses soon (I don't wear contacts), and I haven't poked around yet to learn if Oakleys or some of the coolio kinds can have special lenses constructed for them.

              Ultima tastes like failure.

              I fly.

Target has lots of cheap-o sunglasses.  I know because I'm buying new pairs all the time.  I don't like to spend a lot because I break them or forget where they are or after a run decide that I don't really like them.

                Bring it on.

Yep you sure can see alright I have had no trouble at all seeing, I use them for fishing too, the polarized ones take the glare off the water and on bright wet days takes the glare off the streets when driveing, as long as they work why spend 50 to 100 bucks when you can get by for 10 and not worry dropping them or worrying about loseing them

just my opinion everybody has there own way to make running as enjoyable as possible

depends somewhat on your prescription because some prescriptions cannot do wraparound.

                    Loves the outdoors

I just wear my normal everyday glasses that have photochromic lenses.  I've often wondered if I should get some contacts for running, but then I remember how much they cost and I don't wonder any more
One day I decided I wanted to become a runner, so I did.
... Was wondering what sort of features I should look for?

                        ...

Aside from excellent UV (A&B) protection, get the "least dark" lenses your eyes can stand comfortably (eyes won't dilate as much and less UV will get through to the parts you need to protect.)

The cheap ones are good enough for Billy Gibbons, apparently.  I guess mine aren't too bad...my teenage son's friend asked me if they were Oakley's.  He said they looked like them--now we call them my "Faux-kleys".

Like Run2Eat said.....it depends on your prescription.  I don't wear contacts and my lenses are difficult for some glasses types.  Just ask the optitian if any old sunglasses can be fitted with prescription lenses.  I found a pair of just fairly regular/plain Nike sunglasses that I liked and asked if they could put prescription lenses in them......and they could.  I found a pair of Rudy Project glasses that I LOVED....but my prescription lenses couldn't work in them.  There are always those options that have prescription lense inserts (frame behind frame)...........which kills the coolio factor.

That's completely true, yet sounds dirty.

I have a pair of cheap Ironman-branded sunglasses from Target that I've been happy with.  They cost about $15.
