I always put cinnamon in the filter basket of my coffee maker. I knew I had put a little less than usual, but I dont measure ever so I am used to the variation there.

I am sitting here drinking my coffee this morning and thinking "something is different" Now I have a cold so my taste and smell senses are slightly off.

Apparently in my muddled confusion this morning I put cayenne pepper instead. There wasnt much so it is just a little spicy. More of an afterburn than a spicy taste.

It is interesting. I wouldnt call it good exactly, but with a cold it seems almost therapeutic. I dont think I am going to dump the pot.

...although apparently I should have made regular instead of decaf.

Oh how funny!

Big grin

Let us know if you suddenly feel better, maybe you've stumbled upon an instant cold cure! Wouldn't that be nice.

I love the spicy hot chocolate....which is cayenne, ancho and chipotle pepper in hot chocolate. I've made it myself from scratch but Dagoba Xocatl is great and easier. It does make me wonder if I added the pepper mix intead if it would be awesome. What is good for hot cocoa is good for coffee right? Maybe some day I will try it for an evening coffee.

Funny. My wife was making mushroom soup yesterday and inadvertantly grabbed Old Bay sted paprika (same shape container.)
It was really good anyway. Made me want crabs.

Actually, lemon juice with cayenne pepper is a folk cure for colds. So there you go! (Of course, you usually dilute it with honey and water and drink THAT, but maybe cayenne and coffee would work....)
