Elevation vs Incline (Read 485 times)

I hope this isn't a stupid question. Blush But I will ask it anyway. How can I determine the grade of an incline? For example, if a 1 mile stretch of my regular run climbs 300 ft, what percent grade is that (in terms of comparable incline on a treadmill)?

    I've got a fever...

Divide the incline/decline by the distance run. Be sure you use consistent units (e.g. both in feet) So for you 300 / 5280 = 0.0568 --> multiply by 100 to get% --> 5.68%

On your deathbed, you won't wish that you'd spent more time at the office.  But you will wish that you'd spent more time running.  Because if you had, you wouldn't be on your deathbed.

Ah cool, I figured it was some silly math formula! Thanks! Big grin
