| Little bit of a sore hamstring this morning. Going to skip running in favor of the golf course today. |

Well I have decided that I am going to run the Road Race Series. It starts in Mid July and runs throughout the end of the year. Starts with 2 5ks (spaced 2 weekends apart), and goes all the way up to 2 HMs. Total of 10 races over about 22-24 weeks (some weekends are skipped for other races or holidays).
To meet this goal I am going to try to *build up* to:
M: Stretch and Rest Tu: 45-50 minute easy W: 30 minute Th: 45-50 minute easy F: Stretch and Rest Sa: 45-50 minute easy Su: 100 minute easy
Ideally, after 8 weeks of training or so, I will be built up to this, which should allow me to be comfortable in all races up to the HM. For me, this should be about 25 miles per week.
Not going to allow myself to do anything other than easy pace, until I lose a large amount of weight and complete this whole series though. |

I am doing good with my running but my diet is just not together.
I think I am going to transfer this this thread into a blog on wordpress or blogspot. |

I just use the notes section of my running log for stuff like this. But I know there are a bunch of folks that have blogs too. |

My friend is trying sparkpeople.com--you can track your diet on there and still have what I seems like a fairly easy-to-manage webpages (so you could keep a blog there if you wanted), but they'd track your calories, fat, protein, and carb intake. If you're so inclined.
Good for you for choosing a long-term goal. And, especially, for listening to your body and backing off at the sound of pain.

I have tried sparkpeople before. The thing is I have trouble with the overhead of maintaining so many different internet things.
I am not giving up I think I am going to go on a trail run tomorrow. |

What a weird day, I wanted to go trail running last night but decided against it this morning. So I did 30 minutes on the road.
When I got back, I wanted to go trail running! So I went back out and ran/walked on the 8 mile trail. It was in pitiful shape and instead of taking it back I opted to take the road back, which I found out today is 1 mile shorter than the trail.
So, long day heh. |

I'm starting weight watchers (not actually going to meetings, lol. I'll be happily freeloading off my wife's materials) and Pfitzinger basebuilding schedule tomorrow.
Possible ITBS starting. I've had this injury several times before and know what I'm up against and am confident that I can get ouf of this one without reducing mileage. I will be taking a rest day tomorrow though. |

I hear you there. Running ...running gives you instant gratification. Dieting...much much harder. Keep on truckin! |

Good for you for staying the course. It's perseverance and dogged determination that develops good habits.
It was WW that got me 50 pounds down . . . running is responsible for the last 10. I'm glad you're keeping us posted! |

I will be doing it through the 10ks at the least. Maybe will run/walk the rest of them, but won't race them.
For anyone wondering why my log hasn't been updated in five days -- been on a camping trip. Didn't do any running but did a lot of hiking. |
