What are you paying for *basic* (non-HD) cable + internet? (Read 890 times)

I am pretty sure the end of cable will come once AMC finishes The Walking Dead series.  Right now that is pretty much the only thing keeping us from dropping it altogether.  And V is pretty cool in HD. Big grin

Not sure about AMC but we get V on Hulu  and in HD

That's with the paid Hulu, right?  Can you watch HD in full screen, that way?

And full episodes of AMC shows are not on Hulu, just teasers that take one to the AMC site for full episodes.

        Giddyup.

You could wait about six months and watch it on netflix.

          Ultima tastes like failure.

I like being able to discuss plotlines when everyone else is also in the dark, though, and avoid spoilers in the meantime.  That doesn't work if I have to wait to watch a show with an ongoing plotline weeks or months after it airs.  I'm still dreaming of a la carte programming, though.  That would be awesome.

Well, it is a solution. Sorry it doesn't meet your need.

A la carte cable isn't coming anytime soon.

Yeah, it's a solution.  Eventually we'll get to a point where there's nothing I feel like watching, again (there was a long stretch after The X-Files ended where I didn't watch any TV).  Then we'll probably axe cable altogether.

Well, that's really the way to look at it.  You could be paying $20/month if you wanted to wait to watch your show on DVD.  Instead, you pay $100+ for the priv of watching it fresh... so you have decided (and it is a fine, fair decision) that the $80+ premium is the cost of being able to discuss stuff with people and not stumble into spoilers.

                  You really REALLY like zombies.

That...and I like good dramas with lots of twists and interesting characters.  Haven't gotten really sucked into one in a really long time.

We pay 115 for expanded basic cable, Starx network premium channels, internet and telephone with unlimited long distance from Mediacom. That is a special bundle rate for a year. I'm not sure what it will jump up to after the year is up, but we will switch if they will not continue the service for that price. I'm getting to the point where I could do without the cable all together.

NOPE that's with regular Hulu. We just started with Hulu Plus and still have been using regular Hulu since alot of the stuff we watch we can't get on Hulu Plus lol. Yes we can watch HD in full screen, not that I really like HD however I am starting to get used to it. Like SRL said, you can wait 6 months and then get it from Netflix. I'm patiently waiting for Dexter Season 6 to be released, then I'll do a Dexter Marathon one day.
