Seems like the above mention magazines- once they feature an athlete or team, they end of not doing anything.

Does RW has the curse now that SI has always had ?

Not really. 50% of the runners world covers are models anyway.

You want the true kiss of death? Be the NFL player on the cover of the Madden football game. Garrison Hearst, Eddie George (right before his steep decline), Culpepper (great before, not after), Vick, Shaun Alexander (who's basically done)...

(this even has a section in the wiki entry for Madden)
