Funny. Having done both I'd say at any distance a run/ride or race is as hard as you want to make it.

Ha, I tease my hubby about his enormous quads nearly every day...though our kid is doomed to also have beastly legs once they fill out, since no one in my family has lanky legs, either.

that's good! A tri friend of mine said that his biking friends have discussed whether or not they'd continue to bike if their only option was a Recumbent. They all said, "Not a chance..."
