Post Your Small, or Big, Victory For The Day! (Read 3968 times)

I du! (+CX +Mtn.)

This time of year is cool for seeing so many first-time distance records...all those Fall marathons and halfs people are training for.  Should be some great race reports in the next few months! Big grin

    • gain proficiency @ CX mounts and dismounts (ie stop leap-frogging w/people who ride slower after every obstacle -- finish further up the field)

I busted out a fantastic 20 miler today at a very good pace.  I felt like I could run the marathon today.  Bring it!

      5k - 23:30

      10k - 49:00

      Half - 1:56:56

      Full - 4:01:28

Shut the eff up and run.

Ran 10 miles on Sunday - longest run in 4 months - and woke up today basically not tired.

Had 40 miles for the week ending last Friday.  2nd 40 mile week of the year.

Sunday was my 18th day in a row of running.  Haven't had a streak like that since December 1994.  I basically have no residual tiredness.  All because I backed off my normal easy pace by 20-30 seconds per mile.

        21st century PR's: 1 mile: 5:27 (11/02), 2 miles: 12:10 (9/10), 5K: 19:28 (9/10), 5 miles: 32:36 (10/10), 10 miles: 1:13:22 (3/10)
Goal? To try and make some of these into lifetime bests.

I'm converted to being a morning runner, much to the astonishment of people who know (knew) me.    This is thanks to the inspiration of this thread.  The payoff is that I'm now getting in significantly more miles.  When I was running evenings, I'd get home tired from work and say to myself my body needs a recovery day (or two).  Now, at 5:00 am, I'm saying to myself that once I start running I'll be glad I got up.  And it's true.

Thanks, and for the record, I consider it a Big Victory.  Maintaining through the dark days of winter will call for another big victory.

              No offense.

I went over 2500 for the year yesterday (7/26).  Pretty cool.

Unfortunately, it is 26 days behind schedule.  That 5000 pace bunny is just a hazy blob in the distance.

                Ah well.

                Ultima tastes like failure.

Wow - that's awesome!  I'd have to run 15 hours a day to do that.

I am at ~860 miles on the year.  The most I've done in a year since I was in college 15 yrs ago is 1224 done last year.  This year I did fall behind the 1500 pace bunny this spring, though now I'm running him down...guys in the stands starting to go "WOOP WOOP WOOP..." like at the Penn Relays

                      My victory for this week:

I injured my tailbone back in March, right around the start of Marathon training.  I was worried that it would impede my training.  I was reduced to walking, then as I got better I did run/walk training.  My rehab and training have been slow.

Before the injury I would usually to an easy 3 mile run at a 10:30 pace.  But the other day (Tuesday), I averaged a 9:40 pace!!  Needless to say: I got my stride back!!

I won tonight's easy training run against my DW!

She tried to use the excuse that was her fourth workout of the day.

                            The process is the goal.
