I am so nervous about using my iPod in the pool during my recovery water running.  Has anyone used one?

What was your plan for the iPod?

Is it going to be submerged, or is there some way you were planning on having it attached above the water level?

I ask because I think the water tolerance level for an iPod is about....ZERO.

I've merely run in the rain with my iPod in my pocket and it has frozen, zapped itself, to shut off for days, only to reboot miraculously a week or two later. I thought it was dead.

Now, if I'm running the rain with my pod, I first seal it in a ziplock back and then tuck it into a zipped pocket. I also make sure to check periodically that it isn't sitting in the water that tends to collect in the bottom corner of a jacket pocket when running (that's how it zapped the first time when I didn't realize it).

Water + iPod = a no go in my book

That's about all the advice I can offer, I don't water jog so I'm not sure if anyone out there who does has a better recommendation...

Best of luck!

Definitely submerging.  I know it is risky but I am going to be running in the pool for 6 weeks.  I have a somewhat fried iPod that fell out of my pocket when I flushed.  Enough said about that.  Anyway it works on a speaker system that I can use but not with earbuds.  I'm scared but I need some entertainment while I "aquajog."

I had 5 iTouches replaced because of water damage from sweat. I got lucky since the white indicator didn't turn pick indicating water damage. So much for using the Nike+ that comes with the iTouch. I tried to seal it in two ziplock bags and managed to get it to fit in my armband and I still got water damage. Water know how to find it's way through very little cracks. After five iTouches, I learn that water/sweat and iTouch don't mix. Now, I run with the $59 iPod Shuffle and use a Garmin Forerunner 205. I never has a problem with the Shuffle and water damage.

I've seen waterproof armbands on the internet. But, I'm not going to pay $100+ for an armband.

Ah yes, you dropped your fatty in the potty.  A term which has entered my heavy rotation for usage.

Anyway, I wouldn't take a music player in a pool.

I swim with my ipod shuffle with a product from here:

A bit pricey, but it was a gift. A very usable gift.

Never had an issue with water getting in.

This is what I purchased at the Apple store.  It was expensive.  If it works it will be worth it.  Supposed to be water tight and guaranteed by manufacturer.  My biggest worry is user error.  (me being a little bit of a ditz)  We will see.  I put a paper towel inside just in case a drip or too gets in.  Water workouts going well.  Thanks everyone.
