Marathonfoto! (Read 358 times)

xhristopher

I just scraped off the large previews of me me on marathonfoto from the WDW Marathon. That was over 70 photos in front of a prominent feature in every park. Of the 70 a couple were decent enough, still not good as the Scott Mason photos above. Not even close.

I have to imagine at the right race (example Disney) marathonfoto makes lots of money. Unlike our local Grand Prix races, most of these runners don't race regularly and this is their one or two big races of the year. They pay.

If there was money to be made at smaller races marathonfoto would be there. They aren't.

I'd like to throw out there that not all major photo outfits use unskilled photographers (echoing Ken here). I've seen Scott shooting for other outfits. It's just a paid gig.

Scott has shot me in many races but I've never made the edit for his site. As an artist he's not going to give a crappy edit. I usually look pretty crappy in my shots...

I go down to the local (and a few others) parkrun and take pics and just give em away...  I would rather everyone has an opportunity to get a good pic of themselves rather then quibble over money...

I'm a fan of Scott Mason photos, too.  I like this photo of the 2010 Loon Mountain Race winner, Eric Blake - and a bear!

You took some very nice pictures, but I like this one in particular:

That is an awesome photo. The sky looks amazing.

Parkrun sounds amazing - I wish it was more established in the US.  Your photos are beautiful - wish I could go for a run Down Under!

                Thanks for the comments...

Yes parkrun is awesome.  So addictive.  Just get along on a Saturday morning run 5k, get a time, all for free.  They track all your runs and give you a tshirt after 50.  You can't beat that.
