I sorta knew I was busted by noon but wanted to wait to see what would come out...  Well, if I offended anybody (Nader?), I apologize.  I guess more people knew who I was than I thought.  Hey, John, you blew it!! ;o)  I have no intention for mockery particularly toward "novice".  On the contrary, actually I think it really doesn't matter if you're a beginner or an experienced runner; fast or slow.  Those things don't seem to matter whether or not you can articulate the problem or not.

I did have a slight discomfort in my quads this morning; i was out running and, when i experienced that, I thought about "experimenting" a little here.  No intention of mockery but rather to make my point.

Tchuck is absolutely right; you'll probably need more input for any advice.  But take a moment here; wasn't my comment pretty much what you'd see here?  I always felt that only 1 or 2 people, MAYBE 3, out of 10 people here can articulate the "pain" they experience correctly.  With my "pain", here's the story--my left leg had always been slightly stronger than my right (I used to do triple jump).  With my Achilles problem, I believe the eccentric exercise works best.  So, this must have been, oh, about a year and a half ago or so, I was trying desperately to work on that.  Now I feel like my left leg is 20% stronger than my right.  In other words, my right leg feels like 20% weaker!  So, here is already a potential for disadvantage.  I slackened a little last fall and I was just trying to get back in shape--just I suggested to Diamond J elsewhere, I've been trying to do a half an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening.  And my legs are just starting to feel the effort now.  So my legs were just getting tired.  Plus, yeah, Mojo is correct, we had like 4 inches of snow last night and this morning it was not quite plowed this morning yet so it was quite an effort.  It was a dull pain, it was deep in there, and I was pretty certain it was just tired "soreness".  But I did say exactly the way it was--deep, a bit above the knee cap, started about 10 minutes into my run and stayed there pretty much...  So you hear, from most people, how it is; but most likely you won't hear all the other stories...

So I was sort of hoping enough people would come out and tell me to take it easy or stop running or...or maybe someone saying "Oh, I had the same thing.  Do this..."  Yeah, I pretty much knew what it was and didn't need any advice--I went for my evening run (it was 45 minutes though...) and I actually didn't even feel a thing despite worse snow (what I call "corn-starch snow") and, at some spots, I had to run through 5 inches of unplowed snow and, for sure, it felt like I was running 400m uphill at 200m pace (;o)).

Honestly, this is a great site and there are a lot of knowledgeable people and lots of cheerleaders too.  But this "seeking advice" for "injury" is the only one that I really curl my toes.  Share similar experiences, yes.  But most of us, me included, are really not quite qualified and, worse yet, thorough enough to give appropriate advice.  Often I see, oh, a knee pain...I had a knee pain too and this is what I did...

I guess, for what it's worth, my point is; you'll really have to articulate and give plenty of information when seeking an advice; you'll need to analyze the background, situation and environment thoroughly before you give an advice; and you'll have to take everybody's "2 cents" as grain of salt and weed through them.

By the way, I was a bit discouraged that not too many people cared about my knee... (quads actually)  *sniff*

I cared enough about your knee to write a haiku.

That's love,man.

Also: take it easy.  Or as my father and Ricky Ricardo would phrase it: "take a teasy".  (there is no such thing as a 'teasy' that I am aware of. It's just phonetically how he says it.)

you needed an alias to make it fly ...you are too famous here.  for a second I actually thought someone had created an alias to make it close to your name because I had never seen actual you post something that short.

srlopez...wouldnt a teasy be a small tease?  or similar to a tease.  You know "I'm makin' fun in a teasy sort of way"  ok, it isnt a real word.  But it could be. I'll be sure and use it if we meet again.  (are you running portland again?  I hear the price is going up $40 on 3/1 or some such nonsense.)

Thank you Nobby-san for *not* creating a puppet (another ID) because I might have gone apoplectic.

Ennay, I won't be coming for the Portland Marathon.  I *may* be coming for the Forest Park 50k at the end of May. Perhaps. And perhaps Haulin Aspen in Bend in August if I still live in the Pacific Northwest at that point.

Take your pulse tomorrow morning before heading out.  +7 BPM above normal indicates you're in trouble and should definitely "tase a kitty" or whatever it was SRL suggested.

That's right; you did write me a haiku so thank-you; but that actually reminded me of purple ephelant and woozle and things went downhill from there...

Yeah, I thought about creating another ID but that would push this message board one step further to letsrun.com and I didn't want to do that...

By the way, it's HR 10% higher and so far, mine is about 50 now.  Oh, that's right.  So +7 WOULD push me to the "take it easy" mode...

See? SEE?!!? I was worried about that.

We all need to behave in the best interest of SRLs health.

MTA: I care about you, too, Nobby. Now shut up and go for a run. Oh wait, you did that.

You're right but, in a sense, it kind of wasn't.  The OP created it.  I knew what he was doing.

Not offended, Nobby, just thinking that maybe new people may discouraged from asking questions.  But, no big deal, I guess.  Gonna get my coffee.
