Of course they make money. Many folks don't let AT&T be a deal killer and switch just so they can get an iPhone. 6 million sold in one year. That means loads of new AT&T customers...

6 million were sold, but only 4.6 million were actually activated on AT&T's network. That means AT&T missed out on 1.4 million customers because of iphone unlocking.
