Indiana apparently now has a petition too. I'm all for taking a little enclave of swampland and giving them a sovereign reservation. We all need more casinos and cheap tobacco.

Texas has wanted to secede since before they became a state.
Oh yes. In seventh grade, all of us were required to take "Texas History". I put that in quotes because the 1970s version was super biased by the books they used and the football coaches who taught it. Anyhoo, they made a special point out of teaching us two interesting aspects of the Texas statehood agreement (again, according to coaches; nevermind actual fact): 1) Texas could split into 5 states if they/we wanted and 2) Texas could easily secede.
So I kind of grew up with weirdness like that in the background. I just assumed it was Texas. And it was NEVER tied in to "because we don't like that there President" even when the presidents were Nixon, Ford, and Carter.
Strange times in which we live. Everything has to be amped up into strange dramatic stratospheres.
(Rush is playing 3 blocks up the street tonight at The Key. But that's Hemispheres. And Subdivisions.)
And once again Mr. Wizard (aka: Stevie Ray) explains the internet.
All up in my snatch.
Finally something funny.
I see that, and I'll raise you one!
There was a point in my life when I ran. Now, I just run.

So much maturity from both sides with these petitions... I am in awe!
However, if that is how they choose to spend there time and resources, more power to them. Gets them out of others peoples way.

Pretty much. WGN radio said the Texas secession petition has >80k signatures on it. Buh bye, y'all!
Is the south finally getting around to rising again? (12 year old "story" but still worth it)

In this neck of the woods TN has about -- 17,000, AR -- 15,000, and MO & IL 13,000. Would not be a shocker if all four states make it to 25,000. Lot of displeasure out there, and why not? This appears to be more of a wake-up call to the Feds than it is any actual attempt to secede. Sometimes, I think we forget that it is SUPPOSE to be hard to get anything done in Washington. Things were set up that way. Some of the newer representives that have been painted as radical and obstructive were elected to vote the way they do. That is what they went sent there to do.
I do find it interesting that groups would also petition to revoke citizenship of those exercising their first amendment rights.
I am not and never have been from TX; however, they seem to have their shit together better than most places.
+1
