Cross Training ideas for someone without a gym! (Read 3355 times)

Baby bean!

Maybe it's the brain fog I'm having right now with 5 hours of sleep, but when I think of cross training, I think of swimming and biking which aren't that accessible right now. What ideas can you share? I'll admit, I'm not an exercise video kind of girl, either. Undecided

I'm slower than a herd of turtles stampeding through peanut butter, but I run.

Free weights are awesome Smile I stole my brother's set when he moved to texas and came up with a pretty good routine that works a lot of the upper body. I can't do much legs, but improvised with squats, (my therapy guy had me doing single leg squats a lot too), wall sits and stuff like that...You can buy free w8s at walmart for not too much!

I jump rope all the time, no going to the gym and I do it inside my house while watching TV on a yoga mat and its cheap aerobics.

Do I have stairs??  I'll put it this way...I live on the 4th floor.  There is no elevator.  I have stairs aplenty!

Take your stairs two at a time. Better yet, do that every time you go up stairs.

                          Climb trees.

                          Play soccer.

                          Build a Garage.

                          Dig a trench.

Push ups, Sit ups, Pull ups, dips, squats, lunges.

Stairs (run up on flight, then run skipping a step, then hop with both feet , then hop with one foot {both legs} then hop skipping a step, then hop skipping a step with each leg.....

throw a medicine ball in the air (pushing and underhand)

Jump as high as you can on one leg, alternating, for a certain length of time.

Some of these are more serious than others, but they'll all improve your fitness if you work hard at them.
