1 more (real) at-bat for Adam Greenberg (Read 307 times)

    C'mon man.

7 years after his beaning the guy gets his 1 glorious at-bat and has to face this nasty stuff?

That just ain't fair.  Here's a GIF of Dickey's 10-inch riser.  Watch the catcher's glove... I think at least one law of physics was broken on that pitch.

I had tears watching the highlights of that at bat on sports center. What a great story. (I cried out loud watching the lowlights of the Rangers vs. Oakland series. What a crappy series.) October baseball is amazing.

Granted it probably would not have hurt... but R.A. Dickey is among the leaders in hit batsmen.  So I thought uh-oh when I saw who he was going to face.  Of course he doesn't throw hard, and maybe that's one of the only good ways to get on base against him.

But the Mets have a wide assortment of crap pitching he could have been sent up to face.

and when a pitch from Dickey doesn't go up...

          Lord have mercy.

That was in the works for well over a week with direct plans of having him hit against Dickey. And yes, a 67mph knuckelball wouldn't hurt nearly as bad as his only other at bat. I'm guessing that's why they had him hit against him. But, hitting a knuckleballer Cy Young candidate in the only big league at bat that you remember is cruel. Great story! I love baseball!
