Inhale
On a similar note, I happened to do what approximately 10,000 other people in the U.S. do each day - I dropped my cell phone (a hardy Razor) in the toilet. After placing it in a sealed ziplock of rice (to absorb the moisture), it worked just fine, too, after several days.
Now, regardless of your service provider, you do get crappy reception, though.
Yes, I do "run in this." So should you. The weather is never as bad as it seems from behind your office or car window.
I'm surprised mine is not damaged... I sweat like a pig in heat.... And I used one of those arm band thingys.
Thanks for the warning!!!

Please do post here the text from your soon-to-be-written letter to the district manager.
So, if don't give up my quest to find the contact information for the district manager, this is what the letter would look like:
* * *
[ MTA: melodramatic letter withdrawn.]
Haha! I was going to sign off the posted letter
"Very truly yours,
Mikey Mike,"
but that stuff could get cashed.
I just called Apple to get the district manager's e-mail address. The woman who handled my call is sending me a $30 coupon towards the purchase of a new nano.
Pride Run June 2009
I had a similar problem with my Nano 3 weeks ago, I had no idea it was due to sweating, it never occured to me. I got the "white screen of death" then it wouldn't shut off. It got better but then started to act up again. The guy at the Genius bar flashed his light in it and determined there was "no water damage" therefore the warranty would apply. But let me tell you, he made it like he was doing me a HUGE favour by replacing it.
He kept telling me "I really shouldn't be doing this" and I'm thinking "dude, you really SHOULD be doing this!" In any case, I'm happy, I have a new Nano with a 90 days warranty on it.
But for you, I would still write to the district manager, even though you received a $30 coupon towards a new Nano. I did that with Telus (phone provider) after I had problems with the store when I got my new phone. Ended up getting a few services for free for the duration of my plan (3 years). So it pays to complain, the guy was an ass*hole for treating you this way.
Good luck!

Hey, I have the letter and an address to which to send it.
I'm not sure I want to send it yet, because it could cost him his job. These days, that's a pretty bad thing to lose. But thank you very much.
Anyone mention these? http://www.aquapac.net/
IIRC, heard the inventor or someone from the company on RunRunLive.

I can understand that but at the end of the day, you're the customer and you've got the raw deal because someone is not doing his job. Although I'm not sure it could really cost him his job but maybe it would make him realize that this way of treating a customer is not right.
Remember that if a company is not aware of a problem, they can't fix it.
While some of you people seem to churn through ipod after ipod, I will meekly state that I've had two... count em, two... non-Apple music players in the past six years. And I use my player 4-10x a week. 15x a week counting bus rides. The first was an iRiver player (with 256MB!) that lasted from 2003 until the battery cover broke off in 2007. The second is a Sansa player (with 2GB, which I am not close to filling up) that is still going strong. Its only issue is that it eats AAA batteries like M&Ms. And they were both cheaper than comparable ipods. And they both have built-in radios, which unless it has changed, ipods do not. Anyway, I do keep mine tucked in a sandwich bag. Not trendy nor attractive, but it apparently has worked.

Now look what you started.

... Since I knew I would continue to sweat, I no longer use the arm band. Instead I put it in a baggie and carry it in my pocket....
So it came down to this; and "this" is working very well. Thanks!
