If we don’t try we’ll never know. At least I can find out how good I can be. I can have an answer at the end of the days, and have a hell of a good time with the process. -Desi Davila
We've Got Big Hills
I'm running somewhere tomorrow. It's going to be beautiful. I can't wait.
Poor baby
Are we there yet?

And my wife doesn't think any of you are real people.
She's right, for people in and out of Boston. We're unreal people.
Giacomo's.
Good suggestion for pasta, along with most North End restaurants.
2012 goal: Hoping to qualify for and run the NYC Marathon
Bova Bakery for Chocolate Cannolis!!!
Mike's is good too, but I really prefer Bova...
And you can quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. Groucho Marx

Bova Bakery for Chocolate Cannolis!!! Mike's is good too, but I really prefer Bova...
The Bova's lived on my street growing up and had kids all around our ages. Good snacks at their house!
shonan marathon, girl
those chocolate cannolis sound great, so does giacomos pasta! yum yum!!!
what are some other good bakeries or restaurants for eating in boston. giacomos must be absolutely packed during boston marathon and impossible to get into. where else is good as a second choice for eating pasta or pastry.......during the marathon weekend.
next race SHONAN MARATHON nov 3rd, 2011, KOBE MARATHON nov 20th, 2011, rather than running boston again, i am aiming for nyc!
Oh roo roooo!
We went there first, but they do not open until 5 and the people in the group didn't want to wait.
...along with most North End restaurants.
We went to Catalina's. Really nice little place. Gahlic. Heh.
Mike's also has good coffee.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
We went to Johnny D's in Somerville on day 2. People came pouring in from a St. Patty's day 5(?)k, and were sipping Guinness by 11:30 a.m.
I noticed lots of people walking around with the Bosox paraphernalia, much more than Patriots stuff.
I felt really comfortable in that town, took lots of pictures (despite the rain) and look forward to going back.
Yes, yes!! More food suggestions! We are staying at the BW at Longwood, so any suggestions near there would be great. Someplace that would be within walking distance, like a mile or 2, for breakfast the morning after would be excellent also. Need to get a little stretch of the legs before getting back on Amtrak for the ride home....suspect they'll need a wheelbarrow to get me off the train upon arrival back in Milwaukee.
Brookline Village is pretty close to Longwood, either on foot or by T. Three good restaurants there: Pomodoro for Italian carbo-loading (can't find website), Orinoco for Venezuelan (http://orinocokitchen.com/) and Village Smokehouse for BBQ (http://www.villagesmokehouse.com/brookline.html).
I can't think of any interesting breakfast places, besides chains.
