#dowork
Being a RWOL refugee I love these type of goal threads and always find them very supportive no matter what your goal is. Good support system to keep you on target and motivated and accountable. I've learned a lot from others like this and hope to continue this here. Gville Kevin passed the torch to me for 2013 as he graduated from sub1:30 in 2012.
Hopefully there's as much enthusiasm going into 2013 for this goal, and we can help each other get there. The 2012 looks like it was a supportive bunch. Please tell us about yourself and what races you plan to make an attempt at sub1:30 or other goal and I will add you to list.
As always, training tips, struggles, insights, race experiences are much appreciated and encouraged!

About me. Just finished my 5th marathon at Harrisburg with PR of 3:47. Shooting for a 3:30 but that was not meant to be with some blister mile 17. Focusing my spring on getting faster at shorter distances such as the half marathon and jump back to marathon training in fall. Ran Harrisburg HM during my fall cycle and PR'd with a 1:39:54. This was just 9 weeks removed from taking a month off with pneunomia over the summer. I know I have a better HM PR in me. Using Daniels 5k-15k to train for 2 spring HMs and hoping to at least get down to a 1:35. Fall HM probably in the cards too, but don't know which one yet.
Next up is the Chambersburg HM which is my hometown race and first one I ever ran back in March 2010 just running 3 months at time. Ran a 2:14 in tough weather (rain and wind). Course tough to begin with as a very hilly course. I live 2m from start and know course like the back of my hand. Did not run last year but ran in 2011 with a 1:41:21 at the time and was my PR until it fell this past fall in Harrisburg.

Count me in! My current PR is a 1:30:59, which I ran in a tune-up race during this past marathon training cycle (my 1st marathon). A sub-1:30 half is one of my goals in 2013. I think I have a decent shot during this next marathon training cycle (marathon #2 will most likely be in March, and I would probably run a tune-up half in February), but if not, I'll shoot for a goal half in late Spring or early Fall. I haven't finalized races just yet, but I'll post as soon as I do. I'm looking forward to getting to know and training with the group.

Sign me up. My marathon split was 1:34, so I'm pretty sure this is achievable, but I've never raced a Half before. And that's something I'd like to do before 2013 is up.
No race scheduled yet.
2021 Goals: 50mpw 'cause there's nothing else to do
Count me in. 1:29:01 in 2011, 1:30:18 in 2012. I'm feeling positive about a good time in 2013. First shot at it might be the Cambridge HM on 10th March. It's possible I'll do one before that, but I've not entered anything else yet.

This is going to be easy. You could probably do it on your own this weekend. The question is how much under 90 minutes will you go...
I'm gettin' in on this, too.
My PR was last May with a 1:33:30. I had a good marathon 2 weeks ago and should be close to sub-1:30 in the spring.
No race on the calendar yet...
I'm in. Never raced a half marathon before, but I'm planning to go sub-90 (hopefully by a good amount) this coming year.
First half marathon of next year is on January 1st, 2013. Hi-Point Harriers Half Marathon in West Liberty, OH. This one is to learn to race the distance...possibly with a hangover. I'll be shooting for sub-90 but no taper or anything.
My second go at the distance will be the ORRRC Half Marathon, April 4th, 2013 in Xenia, Ohio. From there, we shall see.
"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical. Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem." Emil Zatopek
Let it stand at 1:25!
Gonna be a stretch goal, but I'll just lean into it.

rgilbert - not wasting any time in 2013, huh?
stadk - setting the bar high
rain - that's pretty good first marathon time
Hey guys, I'm brand new here, but am gunning for sub 1:30 in 2013. I just ran my personal best at the Baltimore Half in October with a 1:34:05, and also PR'ed by 16 minutes in the Philly Marathon with a 3:40:18. A good 2012 for me, hoping 2013 is even better! No races on the calendar yet, except for the fact that I am pacing the Long Branch,NJ Half in May. Making my race plans soon, though

Welcome Matty! I'm prety new to RA forums too, but been using log since I practically started running.
For clarification - Cambridge, in my case, is the one in the UK (or at least one of them), not Cambridge, MA.

The race is a whopping ten minutes from my house, $25, and in lieu of a shirt you get a glass beer mug. I don't understand how I could NOT do it.
And if I'm going to race, I may as well try for it.

Nice... and don't forget to sign up for the sub 18 5K thread.
