I've been there Mike, though not in ages have to agree much better than the US site (no offence) I have probably visited quite a few running websites . I do love running ahead of course some are good some are down right horrid which i don't visit again LOL
http://www.athlinks.com/ is a great site for networking with other runners as well as keeping track of all your race times. It will automatically search for your name and plop in the data for a race you've run. If your race isn't posted, you can email them and have them post your race and add the data. I've also found the site helpful when traveling. Several times I've searched the runner data base by state and then emailed runners in the area I'm going to be in to get info on local running groups to meet up with for long runs/group runs as well as to get info on good/safe local running routes. RunningAhead and Athlinks are the two sites I use most frequently.
