Tri Rule #1 of Triathlon Training/Racing - If Momma ain't happy nobody is happy

      Why is it sideways?

Pardon me if this sounds obtuse, but why are those runners dressed so funny?

Maybe they were waiting for a bike race to break out. Wink Great crash pics Joe, I watched it on VS also. I have to say I've been guilty of the same boneheaded crash myself a few times. Slow speed always get me. The worst was the time I was riding alongside the shore during the women's NCAA rowing championships. Real slow, checking out all the athletic, um, racing sculls. Yeah, that's it, the boats. Got the speed down a little too slow going past the USC team camp and did the good old slow can't unclip crash. Kind of like Artie Feldman in those old Laugh-in tricycle crashes. I'm sure all the rowers were thinking "that old man just crashed, poor old guy" Big grin

Ah, they are coming to mine as well... Bawaaahhaahaaa!!! Seriously though, I think I'm going to send the seven year old and the 45 year old off to watch the last day. I've never been to stage race and would love it if anyone could pass along any advice regarding watching a stage race. Not sure if I can talk the 7 year old into dressing up like a devil and waiting for the race on Palomar Mt. Evil grin From looking at the map of last day, it looks like they could watch the start of the race and run/bike over to watch the finish.

He does now, appears that Levi got the worse of the Levi/Lance touched wheels incident - busted his f'ing sacrum. From VeloNews; The Astana Cycling team announced Saturday that Levi Leipheimer suffered an undisplaced fracture of the sacrum in a crash during the third stage of the Amgen Tour of California. As a result of the diagnosis, Leipheimer will not compete in next month’s edition of Paris-Nice (March 6-15) and will delay his return to cycling until March 23, when he competes in the five-day Vuelta a Castilla y León. Leipheimer reported pain and discomfort following the February 17 crash in California, triggered when he overlapped wheels with teammate Lance Armstrong. The fracture did not, however, prevent him from continuing the nine-day California stage race in which he subsequently won the individual time trial and the overall classification. The sacrum is the large, triangular bone at the base of the spine, wedged between both hip bones and serves as the upper and back portion of the pelvic cavity. Leipheimer was reporting pain following the crash, but it wasn't until this week that an MRI revealed the fracture. The Sacrum is the large, triangular bone at the base of the spine. “It was my fault,” Leipheimer said on the day of the crash. “I just looked down for one second. I wasn’t fully concentrating. And it was windy out there and it’s hard to ride in a straight line. Everyone was going from left to right, and the next thing I know I touched a wheel and went down on my ass. I can certainly feel it on my butt. It’s like when you stub your toe … maybe a little bit bigger than that.” On Saturday, Leipheimer said that he had been "wondering why the pain wouldn't go away." Now he knows.
