Do you ever take a running "vacation?"  If so, how long?  How often?

        A car accident?  You ok?

As for me, I don't take intentional vacations (from running.... I have taken running vacations, though), but Real Life has a tendency to hand them out.

Vacation from running?  or Vacation for running?

Acceptable at a dance, invaluable in a shipwreck.

This.  A twisted knee.  Wisdom teeth + secondary infection.  That kind of thing.  I do cut back when I'm not feeling it, though.

"When a person trains once, nothing happens. When a person forces himself to do a thing a hundred or a thousand times, then he certainly has developed in more ways than physical. Is it raining? That doesn't matter. Am I tired? That doesn't matter, either. Then willpower will be no problem."

No time off for me :-)  If things are easy, I run.  If things are hard and stressors are high, I still run.  Hot and humid, I run because it makes all the other runs seem easier.  Cold and windy, I run because it is still easier than when I was running in Afghanistan during a massive surprise dust storm exactly midway through my 10-miler!

No time off.  Not even for New Years!  (I am doing a race on 12/31, "Beat the Ball 5K" Which starts at 11:35pm and I can be done by 11:58pm in time to see ball drop on the big screen they have set up, and on 1/1, doing the "Hair of the dog" 5K at 8am... So... No, no break from running.

Note:  I have only been running 2 years and loving it, so maybe with more years done, I will feel more like adding in some breaks :-)
