Help me find a Jan-Feb 50k (Read 528 times)

finally Sub-3!!!

    I got the green light to tackle my first ultra Jan or Feb '13. I've got a very local one in Alabama coming up in Febuary (http://www.blackwarrior50k.com/) that I may do, but I'm interested in a destination race. I've browsed a few of the "ultra finder" sites, and I'm still looking, but I was hoping I could get some good feedback from you guys. It will be my first ultra, and I want a trial race and a cool venue. Any ideas?

        Louisville Lovin the Hills in Feb is GREAT and HARD.

         

        Mountain Mist is in your neck of the woods in Jan.

         

        SwampStomper in Memphis in Jan is good, but it filled today unless you want to pay for a charity spot.


        When you say destination, how far do you want to travel?

                AZ has several 50Ks in January/February.

                2013 H1:  7 hours/week base.  Q3: Train for goal race.  Q4:  Goal Race.

                  Great rolling singletrack trails on at the Frosty Foot 50k in Tsali, NC. I ran it back in January of 2009.

                    Holiday Lake 50k++ -- info for 2013 isn't up yet, but it will be the 2nd saturday in February http://www.extremeultrarunning.com/

                     

                     Not sure how cool the venue is, but it's a well-run race and always has a lot of first time ultra runners.
