| Well in Juneau an avalanche took out some electrical power and our cost is shifting from cheap hydroelectric ($0.10/kw hour) to expensive diesel generator (>$0.50 kw hr). All of our stores are out of clothes racks and clothespins. We just hung a line. My kids are complaining that their clothes are stiff and their showers too short and I told them to HTFU. I'm going to Anchorage tomorrow and stocking up. |

What is this "clothespin" of which you speak?
I may have seen one in a museum once. |

I remember being fascinated by them when I would see them at my grandmother's house. They were fun to play with. |

We used to put them on my sisters nose and see how long she could take it! I dug through my hubby's tools and am using clamps. Seem to do the job! |

Hey...thanks...did you know that people that bought that item also bought retractable clotheslines? I placed my order! And I suggest that you all don't wait for a shortage...it is not pretty |

| I work in a baby store and we use clothespins as part of our "special" wrapping! Really feels like a waste now! Sorry! |

There are a few tricks to make clothes a little less stiff. The most effective is to toss the clothes in the dryer for a couple mins (5-10 is more than sufficient) with a dryer sheet when they are dry. (That only works if you have a dryer, which I didnt! But it sounds like you do.)
Other tips: make sure you use lots of fabric softener in the wash, shake the clothes out a bit before you (or your kids) hang them and again before you fold them. And remind your kids that they start stiff but in about 10 mins they feel just fine.
I bet in Alaska it takes more than an hour or two for things to dry on the line! |

I live in Tucson,AZ. I have long ditched the dryer and gone the clothes drying line and clothespin way. I have officially gone green. |

I will try to find the science behind not using fabric softeners...but I don't use those additives...I think soemthing in the softeners caused mice not to be able to finish mazes. Now I don't have mice, but I like mazes alot and I sure would hate to get stuck in one.
Freeze dried clothes...ha ha.. |
