So I've never gotten a professional massage before, and after winning some money at a trivia contest a month ago I decided to treat myself to one after my half (which was on Saturday). With finals taking away all my time this week, I'm scheduling one for Friday.

My question: what would the best type of massage be: Swedish, Deep Tissue, or Sports? Anyone have any experience with any or all of these after a race? Thanks!

Deep Tissue or Sports. Preferably a sports massage from somebody who knows runners.

Enjoy the pain!
It's all fun and games until the flying monkeys attack.

Unfortunately, it can be difficult to find a good massage therapist. There are some really amazing therapists out there, but for someone like yourself, if you happen to get a mediocre therapist for your first massage, you might not see the benefits.

I would suggest asking your local pro runners (or other athletes) for referrals. They will know who is good.

By the way, my wife is a massage therapist...
