BQ Stats Update. (Read 463 times)

In case anyone is interested, I updated my BQ Stats Report that is located at http://mysite.verizon.net/jim2wr/id202.html by adding 2007 data to derive 2-year composite averages. Longer term averages might be a bit more meaningful than a 1-year snapshot since race conditions can vary from year to year.. The structure, content and conclusions of the report haven't changed significantly. The number of races included increased from 147 to 179. The change in overall BQ percentage rate betwen 2006 and 2007 was small....a 2.6% decrease from 10.2% in 2006 to 10.0% in 2007, excluding Boston, and 4.4% from 11.8% to 11.2% including Boston....although the BQ percentages of many individual races changed considerably....from +240% (Mad City Marathon) to -88% (First Light Marathon).

    Hawt and sexy

      -88%
I was not aware that this was possible. New math?

        It is a measure of the change from 2006 to 2007 in the percentage of BQ finishers in the First Light Marathon, which had the largest decrease of all 171 marathons that were run both years: 2006 - 10.1% (23 of 227) finishers BQ'd 2007 - 1.2% (4 of 339) finishers BQ'd (1.2 - 10.1)/10.1 = -88.4% As opposed to the chamge in the Mad City Marathon, which had the largest increase of all 171 marathons: 2006 - 4.0% (31 of 777) finishers BQ'd 2007 - 13.6% (140 of 1032) finishers BQ'd (13.6 - 4.0)/4.0 = 240.0%
Some pretty cool stats on that page- thanks for sharing! I'm nowhere close to BQ-ing (at this age at least), but it's interesting to see the percentage that do broken down by marathon/gender/age group.
