This is a follow up note to one I submitted a couple of months ago when I was beginning to get frustrated w/ Plantar Fasciitis...

I've now been suffering from Plantar Fasciitis (PF) in my right foot for about six months and can't seem to shake it even cutting out impact related activities, stretching, and wearing a strassburg sock at night. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has had cortisone shot(s) for PF. Did it help? Are there any problems associated with the shots?

Thanks!

Sorry, I've dealt with a little PF but I lucked out and it went away on its own (with a little stretching/prevention). I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with this so long... Tongue I hope you can find a solution.

Have you been to a podiatrist? I don't know if this would be helpful but maybe as a last resort? My mother (not a runner, but a teacher) was experiencing PF from standing on her feet all day, which seemed odd. She went to a podiastrist on a referal from her GP and they found that she had broken one of her smaller toes a long, long time ago and it had fused funny. This caused her to walk a little uneven which lead to the PF. The podiatrist fashioned an orthotic for her that forced her to walk evenly and it has helped a lot... I'm certainly not implying that this is the cause of your problem (what are the odds?) but perhaps a podiatrist or sports medicine person could give you a new perspective or find something unknown? Just a suggestion.

Best of luck.

No, I haven't been to a podiatrist yet. I'm stationed on mainland Japan and we don't have one on island. I'm hoping to travel to Okinawa to see one. In the mean time, I'm so frustrated that I'm going to see about getting a cortisone shot. I've been running for over 36 years and can't wait to hit the trails again!

Thanks very much!

I suffered from PF for about 8 months. I went to an orthopedic doc and he recommended to cut back on my running and do more stretching. Also, Aleve for a week and roll a frozen water bottle on my heal. Nothing seemed to help. I did every thing I was suppose to do and the only thing that brought relief to me was a pair of gel orthotics that were made specifically for my foot. Good luck!

I've been suffering from PF for going on 7 months now. I've got an appointment on 29 Jan w/ an orthopedic doc. It would be great if a custom ortho insert would work. Based on what I have heard lately, I think I'd prefer that over cortisone shots.

Thanks!
