>Racing>Boxing Day 10 miler YMCA Hamilton, Ontario
The 92nd running of the Boxing Day 10 miler will again take place at the YMCA in Hamilton Ontario. The volunteers of Hamilton Harriers running club take pride in putting on this historic event. Staging the race out of the YMCA provides excellent amenities including change rooms with showers, a large gymnasium for registration, refreshments and awards. The scenic and challenging course includes three miles of paved waterfront trail, a half mile of gravel rail trail, the uphill seventh mile and finishing with the century homes on Aberdeen and Bay streets. The run attracts recreational and elite runners who end their year with this well organized event. There is a $2,500 cash purse which attracts top area runners. Kyle Jones, Mark Gillis and Clara Hughes all past entrants in our event represented Canada in the 2012 London Olympics. This year The National Post is doing an article to be published in the November 19th edition. We support the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, this helps local children participate in YMCA programs including daycare, fitness and camping. The Harriers donated $5,000 in 2012 and over $80,000 since taking over the run in 1989. Register online, or in person at the YMCA 79 James Street South Hamilton, Ontario from 10am to 3pm on December 8th, 2012. All entrants receive a Merino Wool toque and a custom snowman finisher’s medal. If you cannot decide until race day, we do have race day registration for $60.00 including HST.
