Indy Mini - its a rhyme for no reason. And Marcus - running on the track is over-rated. After about 500 yards all I can ever seem to think is "Get me the H%%$$% off this blacktop" It is a well staffed and organized race for 35,000 people spaced on 13.1 miles. It's worth at least one try + we have lots of good pubs here in Indy and some even pour Chimay off the tap.
Who has Chimay on tap? I'm sitting out the Mini, but I'm running the Geist Half on the 17th. Although, it's looking like I might be doing so on virtually no training if my IT band doesn't quit hurting.

Belgian pub in Broad Ripple. Sorry to hear your sitting out the Mini but Geist looks good. I'll be there too.

I thought it was sort of cool since I had never seen the Brickyard before. I especially liked running over the starting line, which is made of bricks..go figure. The thing that jumped out at me is that the track is not as wide as I imagined. It's hard to fathom three cars wide going through there at speeds close to and in excess of 200mph. Shocked

Somewhat off topic: My mom is running/walking the companion 5k at the mini and would prefer to not eat at the pre-race pasta dinner for reasons unknown and incomprehensible to me. Because I asked her to race so she could relate to how I felt about racing and running in general, I decided not to fight her on it. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a reliable, tasty, local (i.e. not Olive Garden) Italian restaurant in Indianapolis where we could have a pre-race dinner.

Try Bucca De Pepo on Illinois St. One block east of Monument Circle. Good pasta served family style. Reasonable prices and nice atmosphere. House Chanti is also very good. If that doesn't work try Tony's on Pennsylvania and Market. Marcus - I agree about the 3 cars wide thing. Man can they drive.

Good call beef. I was trying to stay closer to the finish line. Well worth the 15 mile trip to the northern burbs for a meal there.
