The Walking Dead on AMC (Read 3197 times)

I just think Carl is growing up in a kill or die world. I would guess children centuries ago were just as emotionally hardened. But I do kind of agree with the kid when he explained to Rick about all the consequences of inaction.

I thought the finale kind of sucked. Just more crap to drag on to next season. I'm getting kind of tired of this group. I really hope somebody interesting shows up next season.

I agree with you!!!  I was disappointed with the finale too.   I don't beleive the Gov would have killed his own people like that. He wanted to win too badly. That's like giving up, don't you think ?  I was also surprised their  group would have retreated so easlily from the prison, too.   But, I'm still glad they won. :-)

Also, Andrea should have been able to kill what's his name.  Just sayin'.

I still love the show, but, was just disappointed.  Maybe we've passed the high water mark.

Oh, yeah, one  more thing.  Why bring them back to the prison?  I think Woodbury is a nice set up.  Just take over the Gov's place, but make it civil.

I'd love to see that happen, next season.

No kidding. On one hand you have a dungeon of a prison, surrounded by barbed wire and walkers, and the claustrophobic feeling of being behind bars. And then you have a quaint little town, secure from the outside with real buildings and a semi-working infrastructure. Yeah I'd choose prison...

Gotta wonder if Woodbury is booby-trapped, though.  Or there are secret entrances that only the gov knows about (and could use to release zombies into the town, then trap the occupants)...even if they did move in, something tells me Woodbury isn't as quaint and safe as we might think.

            Good point!!!

They need to make their own new Woodbury.  So hard to do.

            Wonder where the Gov went????

It would be really cool if they moved into Morgan's town.  He had some booby traps to take out the gov.!

Just because he had a room full of heads, a zombie daughter, a zombie gladiator ring, a torture room, and who knows what else, does not take away its quaintness. Hell it's a regular Norman Rockwell postcard for the zombie apocalypse.

I think I'd take Woodbury too - if the Gov was dead.

The prison seems weird to me - from what I remember when Tyrese (is that his name?) showed up with his 3 friends, the whole back half of hte prison is just rubble, which leads me to wonder why more walkers havent just wandered in there.  Granted, I think they would be behind the locked up part of the prison, but even still.

All caught up (I've been avoiding this thread for awhile). Season 3 was very good. The Governor goes down as one of the great TV villains. And definitely one of the most insane. This series always has me on edge—I never know who's going to die next. Sad to see Lori, T-Dog, and Andrea go. I wonder if Lori will continue to haunt Rick.

Michonne--awesome. What an entrance with her two neutered zombies on chains. Glad she finally started talking.

Carl has turned into this hardened, realistic hunter/warrior. After he shot that teen, and Rick tried to tell him it was wrong, he gave Rick a biting little speech and put him in his place.

Merle turned out to be an okay guy deep down. Good, rich character. Hated to see him go.

The Governor is still out there. He'll be back.

Prison vs. Woodbury? I thought about that. My conclusion is that it's easier to defend, with it being on high ground, and surrounded by fences and gates. Easier to kill walkers. Just attract them to the fence and spear them in the head. And it's very socialistic in terms of housing. Everyone gets the same-sized room with a bunk and a toilet. And they can work in the prison factory making license plates to keep their minds occupied.

Andrea's scene where she's handcuffed and trying to get the pliers with her feet drove me crazy—annoying. It didn't play truthful. I'm thinking that the minute she knew there were pliers, she'd be completely focused on getting them and out of the handcuffs, and anything that drew her from that task, a distraction. Because she knew that Milton could die and turn at any time.  First, she just kept talking with the Milton, and then when she finally started, she kept stopping and looking at him. Then when he turned, she moved fast and voila, the handcuffs were off. That was one of the few scenes in this series that I found annoying and not done well.

A few observations along the way. There have been a few times when Walkers seemed to be acting with intelligence. There was one scene where one seemed to be playing dead, and it fooled Hershel I think. It then "woke up" and attacked him. There was another instance in the bar where Carl went to get the picture of his family. I also remember the first season, there was a zombie in Atlanta that looked like Brad Dourif. He seemed different than the others. A different awareness. I'm wondering if we'll ever see a change in the zombies. A sort of awakening after which they'll be tougher to deal with—more unpredictable. What happens if a zombie is fed well every day. Is there some kind of growth curve? The zombies are almost becoming background. They provide a few surprises still, but essentially it's the same thing over and over with them. Predictable. Let's watch the humans do all sorts of gross things to their heads. The Governor is a lot scarier at this point.

The Governor had a good idea to attract Walkers and trap them in holes. Rick and company should build a few of those. They should also build a moat around the prison. Maybe get some paddle boats and ducks.

It'll be interesting to see Judith's arc.

Catch you in a year, after I finish watching Season 4 on Netflix DVD.Cool

so far i'm digging the new season...they've stepped up the gore and I'm surprised the herd is getting thinned so quickly.  looks like Rick will be back soon too, and its good to see Carl packing again.  just happy its uptempo, getting creepy, and not revisiting with the guv'na arc (for the time being).  oh and mmmmmm bacon.

                        what do you think?

Carol. Is she burning the flu victims? She's so hard core, teaching the kids how to kill.

Swine flu? Will this lead to a super zombie that is tougher to kill?

Boot crushing skulls never gets old. The eye ball squishing out of the fence was a nice touch.

                          Get off my porch

I'd love to see that happen, next season.

Would be nice to go back on the road or even to Woodbury. The prison is done.

                            Hoodoo Guru

My wife, daughter and I watched all of season 1 and 2 in taped reruns and bought the season 3 DVD so we are all caught up.  Since we've been skipping through commercials, it's been a little bit annoying watching with commercial interruptions.  We could tape them now, but are just too impatient.

I like the new situations they have been put in against the zombies.  The zombies falling from the roof of the building onto the scavenger party was good.  So are zombies pushing in the fence and suddenly appearing in their sleeping quarters due to the "flu."

Looks like "farmer" Rick was short lived and Carl will be putting the sheriff's hat back on.  The way it should be.

                              The tangents are moot.

I'm liking this season so far, but I get a little stuck on the nitpick-y stuff:

                                1) Where are they getting all that gas and those batteries?

                                2) How do they stay so nicely waxed/shaven?

                                3) How do none of the clothes have a logo on them?

                                4) How did that beautiful horse not get eaten in its stall a long time ago?

What else makes people go hmmmm?
