I think clear bags might be the new normal.  A few days before Boston, I ran a 5K where we were allowed to just drop our bags on a tarp.  A few days later, we had formal bag check with clear bags.

The other non-terrorism related reminder the race officials sent out was not to run under someone else's bib.  In case of an emergency, EMTs will think you're someone else.

Although clear bags make sense, how does such a measure help prevent something like the Boston incident? Seems like a low hanging fruit action.
