Forums >Gears and Wears>ISO Women's Mid-Length Singlet?
I'm not sure what else to call these. But, here's an example of what I'm looking for: Asics Til Bra Top. Basically, something longer than a bra but shorter than a singlet. Anyone seen these around?
I'm trying to find a top for my next marathon. I like the coverage of a singlet but since most of them aren't very fitted through the waist, towards the end of the race, I have this heavy, wet fabric drapping off of me and flopping around. I'm remembering how annoying I found this. But, I'd like more coverage than just a bra. I'm thinking of going with the Nike Racer Tank since it's snugger. But, the fabric for this top (and similar ones, I think) is kinda heavy/thick. So, I'm trying to see if there's a middle option I'm missing.
Thanks!
Edited to add: I've checked the Adidas, Asics, Brooks, Craft, Mizuno, Pearl Izumi, Saucony, and Sugoi websites. I may have missed something, though.

Zensah makes a racer tank top that looks similar to the Nike link you posted. But their material is a ton lighter and very breathable. I have one of their cap sleeved shirts and it is my favorite running shirt. I am waiting for our tax return to come in, and I am buying all the colors of the tank tops they have.
I haven't seen anything shorter like the Asics one you posted before, even in my Altheta or Title Nine catalogues. But it looks something kindof yoga-ish to me, have you looked at Lululemon stuff or Giam maybe?

Thanks, I'll take a look at those. I just looked at running websites. I actually thought of Lululemon on my run this morning. I was also thinking maybe triathlon stuff might be good? But, I don't know that stuff either.
Curious to see what "ISO singlet" might be so I peeked... ;o)
I know exactly what you mean--not necessarily about the bra but how annoying the flip-flopping of the wet and heavy material around the belly button. You may not like this idea (my wife hates it) but you can always cut the bottom few inches off of your singlet. Once my wife got a biker singlet (with pocket on the back for GU) and liked it very much but with the in-built bra which she didn't like. So she wanted to wear her own (separate) running bra but then the built-in bra was too much. "Chop it off," I said. She STRONGLY resisted it, siting the fact she had to pay $40 for the singlet. Of course I chopped it off and...she liked it. In fact, I think she wore those when she BQed! ;o) I did the same thing with her shoes one time (too much cosmetics...). She STRONGLY resisted it for the $120 pair of shoes but...once I did it, she liked it. Wives...!!

Might be worth a PM to L Train.

I need way more coverage than a bra at present.
This one maybe?
Cool! It's called "Air 2.0 women's singlet" btw.

I have cut my singlets as well. Where I live there are small shops that will do this for next to nothing. I find most/all singlets for men are just too long. I guess they're made to be tucked in but I don't like that style. I just have 'em cut off and seamed an inch or two. Much better during a marathon where the shirt is wet almost the whole time.

aren't these called shimmels? built in bra, very fittted. My lrs carries tons of them in a wide range of fabrics (thin, thick, soft, stiffer). I haven't seen many that are short like the asics one you linked too, but the ones I wear fit tight enough that you don't get loose, heavy fabric feeling.
I was thinking shimmels were long. I'm looking for something in a crop-top or mid-riff... I have maybe 3 "shimmels" (including the one in my av) that come to my waist/hip area. I find that the lighter fabric ones ride up and end up pooling around my waist. The heavier fabric ones (like the one in my av) stay put but, they're heavier and I'm not sure I want to wear one for a marathon.
Where can you get this? While it doesn't do me much good right now (we're expecting a snowstorm tomorrow), this would be perfect for those HOT summer runs. I'm too self-conscious to run in a sports bra but this might be enough modesty

It's from Gore Running Wear. I have no affiliation with this company whatsoever - I just randomly remembered seeing this top while I was shopping for something else. Look here: http://www.sportsshoes.com/product/GOR380/gore-runwear-lady-essential-crop-support-sports-bra/ --> UK website, might not be of use to anyone else here although I see you can get the prices in $'s, so maybe they ship to the US. In fact, I too would love to run in just a sports bra but it's just not the done thing around here. Might go buy this now just in case I magically develop abs by summer.
There's going to be a run on this shirt! I better go online and buy it now. And, start doing my crunches.
I have to say I'm happy to see I'm not the only one annoyed by the floppy, soppy singlet.
